Chapter Twelve~

Saoirse~

As I flew towards the battle field I heard only the rivers rushing waters. Not one swords clanged and the valley was holding its breath.

Densase circled lower but no one on the field raised a cry, their eyes watched us draw closer and closer but the kept their peace. He landed in a heap, the storm had begun to affecting him.

Densase was a sun dragon and thrived off the energy of it, but the sky was thick with clouds and Densase was beginning to feel the strain. So was I.

In a show of confidence, after our less than graceful landing, I jumped of Densase.

All eyes of both army's followed me.

'I AM SAOIRSE ONAS ATHIOSUS, DAUGHTER OF THE DUKE OF DRAGONHALL STENVEN ATHIOSUS AND THE RUNAWAY PRINCESS OF TERRA ONAS. I AM THE DRAGON SAVIOR AND LIGHT-BRINGER. I COME TO MAKE PEACE BETWEEN TERRA ONAS AND BELIDONA ATHIOSUS. PRINCE WILLIAM WAS CAPTURED BY MY FATHER, STENVEN ATHIOSUS, IN AN ATTEMPT TO REPLACE PRINCE WILLIAM WITH PRINCE ZACHARY AND RULE THROUGH HIM.' I shouted at the mass of wounded men.

They stayed silent.

'I WILL BREAK THIS UNNATURAL STORM, AND KING WILLIAM WILL RETAKE HIS THRONE. AND THERE WILL BE NO WAR BETWEEN BELIDONA AND TERRA ONAS.'

All too late I realized that the mass had stopped listening to me.

We have to break the storm Saoirse.

I know Densase.

I took a deep breath and gathered our combined energy together, but my concentration scattered when I felt the air grow colder, and when I saw the shadow fly by.

The mass had begun to move again. They began to turn towards Densase and I. Their faces were clouded, their eyes stormy.

I blocked them out and closed my eyes, though I was all too aware of the flapping of my white gown and cloak.

I tried to regroup our energy, when I noticed their was another energy available to me. Though the crowed was ragged and exhausted they as a group had enough for me to grab onto.

The flapping of enormous wings became evident in the air as I saw through Densases eyes a massive black figure descend from the clouds. The winds buffeted us but I was almost ready.

I harnessed the energy around me and tried to create one single beam of light up to the clouds above.

Men began to fall in a heap around me as I sapped their energy, but I could feel that I was not the only one using their energy.

Some people should just stay dead, growled Densase.

I was too tired to look up. I could feel the beam reach the sky. The storm was fighting it.

The flapping grew louder and the air shifted relentlessly around me. The beam began to weaken, until it vanished completely.

I slumped against my dragon. Though, this time, I received no boost of Majikal energy when we touched.

Booming laughter echoed all around us.

'The Rider quits so easily. The Light-Bringer fails to destroy my storm. I am not surprised. You are weak. Your mother was weak and now so are you and David. I wonder why Simmender chose you, weaklings. It was you lineage. My lineage. But the Onas women marred you. I should have raised you to greatness, I see that now, but too late. You shall die at mine own hand. Like weak pups at the hand of the butcher.'

Shadows began to move above me, grouping and retracting in an endless motion. I looked up this time.

My exhausten was only matched by Densase's. It dawned on me that we might not make it, that I might never see Will again. My heart broke then and there, and I called out in my mind for help. To anyone's mind that was open.

At that exact moment I felt a cry of help reach me. I plea for forgiveness as the light began to fade.

The shadows above flew through the air. In a moment of panic I grabbed onto the energy all around me.

The energy of the earth beneath my feet, of the plants and trees and the energy of the river. I grabbed it hastily and pulled it to me, building a wall of pure light to combat the dark.

The energy coursed through my body and through my dragons.

Densase took me in his teeth and lightly put me in the saddle. And then he took off. Streaking towards the swirling dark mass of clouds.

I pulled on all the energy sources around me, and shot a beam of pure light up to the sky, breaking the storm, but only for a moment. The dark convulsed and rushed toward the light.

I could still hear the loud slow beats of the jet black dragon below. He was ten times the size of Densase, and fit the perfect description that Old Man Jenkins had given me.

And on his back was a dark lone figure that could only be Stenven Athiosus.

Tremors of fears passed through me, but I kept my eyes ahead. On the storm.
