Chapter 10

Saoirse~

Densase flew steady, his wings beating out a steady rhythm. I could feel Wills' arms around me, just over our plated armour. the butt of my sword was sticking into my leg and I was freezing. My limbs were stiff, any warmth that came from Densase was quickly snatched away by the icy wind.

My mind continued to conjure up images of the battle we were about to witness. I tried to keep one particular image at bay, the one that The Duke had showed me days ago. The image of the shadow falling over us clouded my mind.

I knew the shadow must have been him and his dragon, and that it was him who turned the crowd into a frenzy, but it couldn't be true. His dragon had eaten the boat, it had eaten him.

The sea beneath us churned against the oncoming storm. The pressure was dropping, and the smell of electricity hung in the air.

Densase began to drop suddenly. He veered towards the cliffs on our left. The sound of the waves escalated.

Densase?

Something lurks in the Forest.

Densase, we have no time. Just fly over the sea.

No, Saoirse. Not safe. That storm isn't natural. I don't like the smell of it.

I frowned. I trusted his judgment, but that was strange, how couldn't a storm be natural?

Okay. Fine.

'Is everything okay?' shouted Will over the wind.

I shrugged.

By the time I could see Belidonas' Trident, the storm had moved inland.

Just over the horizon, Belidona Athiosus appeared, and grew as Densase flew on.

...

We landed gently in a deserted market place. I looked up passed the houses' at the castle. Lightning flashed far away, moments later thunder roared. It was menacing.

I eased off Densase and stretched my legs. Will stepped in front of me and I looked up at him and it struck me how much he had changed from when the voices had started to now. From a goofy Prince to a wise King.

He turned from the castle to me. 'It is my journey from now on.'

I nodded. We all had our own paths from now.

His armour shone silver, it's leather straps fitted perfectly. Leather boots clung to his thighs. An enchanted cloak wrapped itself around him and fluttered in the  wind.

I threw my arms around him and hugged him close. He wrapped his arms around my waist.

'Don't die, don't you dare die on me,' I choked

'Never.'

'I love you.'

'I love you more.'

I stepped away from him and he turned to Densase and patted his snout.

Good luck, mortal.
