5th Moon of Summer, Belidona Athiosus
'Goodnight, Your Majesty.'
'Goodnight,' I said, stumbling out of the darkly lit chambers and into the already moonlit corridors. With a sigh I began to walk unsteadily to my chambers.
I passed the empty throne room. The fires had been extinguished and should have been empty but a lone figure lounged on Fathers throne. You know, the bigger, grander, more expensive looking one. Made of uncomfortable slate stone with carvings of past kings engraved into it.
I walked in and glared up at my younger brother. He has pure black hair and an even blacker sense of humor. He was only 3 months younger than I, so in actual fact, he was my half-brother.
'What do you think you are doing?' I asked.
'Getting comfortable.'
'Excuse me?'
'Oh brother, you havn't any idea what sort of weight that holds these days,' he said to me as he leisurely lifted himself out of the throne and began pacing slowly between the throne and the steps that I stood at the foot of. 'Really, you have not a clue, it's very amusing.'
I was confused. 'What?'
'You never were the brightest of us all were you?'
'Did you just attempt to insult me?'
'It seems I succeeded, doesn't it? Are you not insulted?'
'Ummm...'
'Exactly!' he pointed at me. 'Exactly my point! You are an idiot, you couldn't hope to rule a country! But I am the smartest of us all. He thinks so. He values my intelligence. He understands me.'
'Who in Belidona is He?'
'He is none of your concern. Well maybe he is, but because you asked ever so kindly, you are excused. Excused from your duties as King, excused of Belidona, excused of everything but darkness. I will be King. I will rule this Kingdom and bring greatness to this land. You are banished forever more. You will never return.'
He stopped pacing just before the throne and a man appeared behind the throne with his hand resting on the back of it. Behind me the doors of the Throne Room opened and in marched a small army of hooded figures with swords.
'Goodbye forever, brother.'
Two men grabbed my arms and began to drag me away. I thrashed and turned to see Zachery sitting on the throne. The man behind him was gone.
'You''ll never get away with this, Zachery,' I shouted.
The man appeared in front of me and raised a hand. But before it pressed against my forehead, he whispered loud enough for me to here.
'Oh, but he has.'
I blacked out.
