Authors note~
Just one question before you start, DID YOU READ THE WHOLE OF THE LAST CHAPTER??!!
I bid you to read it again because my thick 'smart' phone decide that it was a great idea to publish only half of the chapter, so I suggest you go back and read it or you might get confused. Though not much happened but this chapter is petty much just backstory and all but there will be action soon.
Oh, just one more question. Who do you think the villian is?
Enjoy!
Chapter Six~ The Runaway Princess
The hot sun beat at our backs as it descended to the west. The grass was now dry, hard and crunched as we walked by the Belidona River. The looming Outer Wall grew as we gained ground towards it.
My brother and I had left the Dragons at the Trident to keep them safe, while we walked to the wall. Densase had disagreed to this profoundly but he had had no other plan. So splitting up was the best choice, which says nothing because it was a horrible choice.
My brother walked in silence. His breathing steady and his face calm, but I knew him better than he knew himself. His hands were clenched under his cloak and his shoulders slouched forward as though in defeat, the vain just above his right temple pulsed as though angry.
I breathed a sigh through my nose and peered straight on at the grey wall.
It was said that the Walled Cities were built by three brother Acuses, Falin and Chice Athiosus. Brothers of Belidona.
In the beginning Athiosus was a tropical Island filled with untamed Dragons, and other Majical creatures and beings, so, as you can imagine; it was almost impossible for humans to live there. So these three brothers hatched a plan, build three Walled Cities of rock and iron. Soon afterward, the last settlement from an unknown land split into three groups, each lead by a different brother. Acuses was the first Walled City, named after its bold and brave king but he soon was killed and replaced by a government, where the people decided who ruled. Belidona Athiosus the second Walled City, built by Falin, the wisest of the three brothers, was named after his dead sister, Belidona Athiosus, the first Dragon Rider, who gave her life so that her true bloodline could become Riders also. He ruled his court justly and fairly and lived a long and prosperous life where he had three daughters, the eldest, Genora, succeeded him and ruled the same as her father. The third City was built by the calm Chice, he did not make himself leader but as Chief, if there was a problem he would sort it out but he encouraged his people to settle it themselves. Though his bloodline was not always like that and over the years after his demise the Chief family became the Royal family that were driven around in private boats, as this City was built around lakes and streams and existed solely on the fishing industry, the Royals were cruel to their subjects and corruption seeped into their simple City.
We approached the Wall slowly and one problem came to mind... 'Uh David. How do we get inside?'
David and I looked at each other.
'Same way we got out?' he suggested.
'It's a bit light for that yet don't you think?' I asked. He grunted in reply and leaned against the Wall.
At twilight my brother and I swam the river back in the City. It was almost Mid-moon and the streets were quiet.
