The Next Morning Transition

Mina's POV
"Mina, sudden appearance!" Trina commanded. I burst into Trina's room expecting for another duty to be done, but nothing came. Instead, Trina held her diary up in my face. "Yesterday, I came up with a brilliant plan to destroy garbage-band!" she explained, while I pushed the diary away from my face to get a better look at it. She had actually written up a plan and it looked effective, but I still doubt that it will actually work. "You really think this is going to work, Trina?" I questioned. Trina shot a glare at me. "Totes, Mina. Now that Corey's gone, there's nothing that's going to get in the way of this now!" she growled. I tensed. Now that Corey's gone. I was not expecting that...

Laney's POV
I was the first one to the meeting place, which was in front of Corey's house. About ten minutes passed and there's still no sign of the two. I decided to message Kin a reminder.

Laney: Hurry up, slowpokes. :/
Kin: Sorry... We're coming right now.

My eyes darted over to the other side of the street, where their house was located. I wanted to see what would happen next. Probably something silly. Yep. I spotted them speeding out the front door and towards me, somehow panting like they just ran a marathon. Laughter almost escaped my mouth when I noticed their clothing, but good thing my hands were there to cover it. They were wearing black spy-outfits, complete with... pockets to put their cheese in? Uh, so Kin and Kon were trying so hard to imitate stealthy ninjas. Well they weren't. The thought of it made me face-palm mentally.

"Hey Laney, why aren't you dressed like a ninja?" Kon asked. I face-palmed another time, only now, it was real. Nobody mentioned anything about having to dress like one. Until Kon did. I suggested we started with the plan now, which turned them serious again. We split up and headed to each of our friends' houses, repeating the same knock and ask process Kin created that we could use. It was all the same. No Corey. I was starting to lose hope.

After we were done asking everyone we and Corey knew, the three of us decided to finish off with our enemies. The Newmans. Kin told us to do our own genderbents, but he also assigned me to do Carrie. Ugh, can this day get any worse?! Over at my genderbent's house, Lenny opened the door like a grump. He rolled his eyes at the sight of me. "What do you want?" he sighed. "I just want to know if you know where Corey is." I replied. Everything would be better if we didn't start a fight. At least, not over this. "I don't know, but he for sure isn't here." Lenny groaned before he closed the door. Of course, I would know Corey wasn't there. Lenny's house was probably the last place I'd find Corey at.

I had Lenny down, just Carrie's house to go. Luckily, her's was just next door. I headed down to Carrie's house, and Carrie answered the door. "Hey Laney!" she greeted. I froze. She knew my name? Even if she already did, she'd never address me by it. "Just here to ask, have you seen Corey?" I enquired. This time, Carrie was the one that froze. "Uh, nope! Not at all." she said nervously. I raised an eyebrow. Carrie was definitely hiding something. I just thanked her and left. My phone vibrated in my pocket, and I took it out. There was a message from Kin.

Kin: We're done. You?
Laney: Yeah.
Kin: Kon and I decided we don't have to meet back again, btw.
Laney: Okay. Sounds good to me.

Well, that's some time saved. I headed back to my own house but before I went inside, I noticed there were some mail in the mailbox. "Ooh, mail!" I squealed. Grabbing the envelope, I hurried up to my room and looked at it. It was for me. I ripped it open. At the bottom, the letter was signed.

Corey.
