Chapter 32

It was now late August, and school was starting again in a few weeks. The nursery had been finished, making Luke and Ashton incredibly excited for when the babies would be here.

"School starts soon," Luke spoke. The couple were laying together in bed, just talking and cuddling. Ashton kissed Luke's forehead.

"Yeah, I've been thinking about that." Luke looked up, meeting Ashton's hazel eyes. "Have you ever thought about finishing school online? Our school has an awesome online program. Then you can stay home while you're pregnant, and while the babies are little. How does that sound?" Luke grinned, pecking Ashton's lips.

"That sounds perfect! Can we go to the school and set it up now?" Ashton nodded, smiling at his enthusiastic boyfriend.

"Of course princess."

"So, you'd like to sign up for online classes?" The secretary asked. She typed something in her computer. Luke nodded.

"Yes. I'm a senior, so I only have to take my core classes. I've got my other credits done to graduate. So I just need my science, English, and math classes." The secretary nodded.

"Luke Hemmings, correct?"

"Yes." The secretary continued typing, then looked up at Luke.

"Okay, it's all set up. Starting the first day of school, you can do all your classes online. The work will be posted on there. Have a nice day." Luke smiled and nodded, grabbing Ashton's hand and pulling him out of the office.

"Yay! Now I can stay home with our babies!" Ashton grabbed Luke's face and kissed him softly.

"Yes baby."

Luke had an ultrasound appointment that day, so he and Ashton headed straight to the doctor's office. They sat together in the waiting room, Ashton with a hand resting on Luke's belly.

"Our precious little babies." Luke giggled and kissed Ashton's cheek.

"Love you." Ashton kissed Luke's nose, rubbing his stomach.

"Love you too baby boy." Luke kissed Ashton softly, but had to pull away when a nurse came out and called his name.

Ashton followed the nurse hand in hand, Luke's other hand on his stomach.

"Go ahead and sit there. Dr. Stevens will be here in a moment." The nurse smiled, and Luke smiled back. She left the room, and Luke sat back in the chair.

"I can't wait to see our babies again. They're gonna be so much bigger now," Luke spoke softly, looking down at his swollen stomach.

"I can't wait either princess." Just then, Dr. Stevens came into the room, wheeling the ultrasound machine behind him.

"Hello Luke, Ashton. Good to add you again. Let's see how those babies are doing." Luke had been given a sheet to cover his lower half as he lifted his dress over his stomach.

Dr. Stevens spread the gel, and started using the wand. Luke held Ashton's hand as the couple stared at the screen. "So, the babies have gotten quite a bit bigger. They can fully hear you when you speak, so it's recommended to talk, read, and sing to them as much as possible. The internal organs are nearly developed, except the lungs, but the babies are still too young to live outside your body. Have you been feeling them move around?" Luke nodded. "Good. The next couple weeks, you'll start feeling it a lot more often, and soon you'll be able to feel the babies kick, Dad. I'm sure Luke'll tell you when that happens." Luke and Ashton shared a smile. "Okay, let's take a look and listen for the heartbeats."

Luke squeezed Ashton's hand as the first baby came into view. "There's the baby girl," Dr. Stevens moved the wand around a bit more, "and there's the boy." Two separate heartbeats started playing, and Luke giggled and gripped Ashton's hand harder.

"Our babies," he whispered. Ashton grinned and kissed Luke's cheek.

"Our babies." Ashton kissed Luke softly, then the two turned their attention back to the sonogram screen to watch their little babies.
