A few days later
When the police arrested the guy that kidnapped Mokuba and Atsuko, they realized that the man behind the strange costume was the owner of a company that was trying to sell a similar device as the one that Atsuko's father had designed. It turned out to be one of those typical scenarios that had happened before when Atsuko was a child. This was something that she didn't want to experience again though, her life being put on line and also her friends lives as well. It seemed her father was sick of it as well because once they returned to their home he immediately assigned body guards to Atsuko, them having to follow her everywhere she went off their property.
"Father, don't you think this is a little much?"
"There is never anything too much when it comes to your safety. Now, I would suggest you introduce yourself to these men because you will be spending a lot of time with them."
"But Dad,"
"Atsuko, please. I know you don't agree with this but I hope you will see why I'm doing this."
"Can we make a deal then?"
"I'll consider it."
"If no one tries to kidnap me over a certain period of time, I can lose the body guards?"
"What's the time period?"
"I was thinking something reasonable, like a couple months."
"That's not reasonable at all. There has never been an attempted kidnapping for you a couple of months apart."
"Then what time period do you suggest?"
"Three years"
"Three years!? That is totally unreasonable."
"Take the three years or have them for the rest of your life."
"What about my life? My friends aren't going to enjoy having them around."
"They'll get used to it." With that, her father left the study that her daughter was in, leaving her behind with her two new body guards. Atsuko was infuriated, her father was never one to have his children protected all the time. He and her mother always made fun of those wealthy families that had their children surrounded by military trained guards even though they had never been kidnapped. Yet, here he was, doing the exact same practice that he was fully against to one of his children. She wasn't sure if her siblings would be having the same treatment, but it still bothered her. Atsuko looked to the two guards that were standing by the couch she was seated on and immediately noted that they were Westerners.
"My name is Atsuko, but I'm sure you already know that." She said in perfect English. "Do you speak Japanese or would you prefer I speak English?"
"Which ever you prefer is fine with us. We speak both." One said, his accent immediately proving that he was from Europe.
Atsuko turned back to Japanese. "There's no reason to be so uptight. This house is under incredible security, nothing will happen. Please, introduce yourselves."
The one with the accent said, "My name is Mike Banning."
"I'm Benjamin Asher." This one seemed to be from America, not having much of an accent that was very distinct.
"An American and a Scott? Interesting combination. I'm assuming you are both American military trained, yes?" They both nodded. "I don't mean to sound rude but are you guys shy or just slow?"
"Excuse me?" Asher said immediately.
"I'm sorry, I'm not really myself right now. It's just you guys aren't talking very much even though I told you to relax. You guys obviously don't want to be here and you don't need to be. Like my father said, you only need to be around when I leave this house. So go enjoy yourselves until I actually need to leave the house."
