Heartless

Chapter 3

I woke up as the artificial light poured into my eyes. I blinked and sat up tiredly. What was I doing last night again? Oh, shit!!! The pictures!!!

My face felt hot with a blush as I remembered the drawings. I can't believe Namine would do that!

Oh well, what is done is done. I got up and slipped my pajamas off and put on my uniform. I took a last glance around my room, making sure I wasn't forgetting anything, then walked to the conference room to meet Saix for my mission.

I walked over to Saix and said "So, wassup?" "You are to go on a mission with Roxas, Demyx, and Xigbar. This is a very important mission for you both. You are to hunt down a heartless that has been evading the Organization for a long time. It's last known whereabouts were Twilight Town. It's type is undetermined and its strength is great. Be prepared for anything. This mission could take anywhere from a month to a few years. You are not to return untill the heartless is defeated unless instructed otherwise." He said.

"Wow, that's quite a bit to ask, but well, ya know. Superior's orders 'n stuff." I replied as I walked off to find Roxas, Demyx, and Xigbar. I walked down the halls toward's Roxas's room, the closest. I knocked on the door. "Who is it?" "It's me, Axel." I replied. "oh, come on in. I'm just finishing getting ready." he said, I opened the door and walked in, shutting it behind me. I sat on the bed as Roxas put on his shirt, then his cloak. He gestured for me to follow him out and we did, coming out into the hallway.

"So, whatsup?" he asked. "Well, we're going on some huge mission hat could take months to complete." I replied. "Just us?" he asked. "No. Demyx and Xigbar are coming too." I answered. "Okay" He said with a smile at me. We walked to get Demyx, who agreed eagerly to the mission, then Xigbar who greeted us with a string of cuss words. Then, off to our first stop, Twilight Town!

We walked out of the Dark Corridor into the bright light of day. My eyes adjusted and I looked around, quickly taking in everything I saw. Nothing really out of the ordinary to me. "Well, what should we do first?" I asked everybody. Roxas shrugged, Demyx started coming up with some idiotic scheme, and finally a good suggestion "Let's go check into a hotel first since we can't go back to the castle until the mission's over." Xigbar said.

"okay then." I said. "Let's get one near the beach! I've always wanted to go." Roxas said with a smile.  I nodded as I opened the Dark Corridor that would take us to the closest beach.

We stepped out onto the sand, the sunlight drenching us in hues of gold. I looked around, searching for the nearest hotel. Money was no object for us nobodies, so we could stay wherever we wanted. I quickly spotted a small hotel close enough to the ocean to get a great view of it from the window. "Let's go there." I said. Everyone nodded and followed along behind me.

"Hello, Welcome to the Quinton Flynn Inn. How may I help you?" The manager said politely. "What rooms do you have available?" I asked her. "Well, currently we have 2 rooms available, both have 2 queen sized beds, a living room area, a bathroom, a balcony, and a desk." she replied in a soft voice. "Well, I guess we'll take them. How much will that be?" I asked her. "That will be 10,000 money." she said as I got out my cash. "Here." I said as I traded the money for the key cards.

"I go with Demyx." Xigbar said as he grabbed a key out of my hand, grabbed Demyx, and went up the stairs. "Didn't he know there's an Elevator?" Roxas asked confusedly. "I'm sure he did but that pedo just wanted to get Demyx and go." I said with a chuckle. Roxas shrugged and pressed the elevator button. The door opened and we walked in as I pressed the button for the 3rd floor.

We walked down the hall, searching for our room, room 138. Finally we reached our room at the very end of the hall, a room closest to the ocean but sadly right next to Xigbar and Demyx's room. I slid the key card through the card slot and opened the door.

Instantly the scent of the ocean and flower blossoms drifted into the hallway. The balcony doors were open, the curtains flowing in the breeze and the room was flooded with soft pastel light. The 2 queen beds were right next to eachother, covered with pale blue blankets and pillows. The room was decorated with various shells and types of coral.

"Hmm, pretty cool room." Roxas said. I nodded and walked over to the beds. "Which one do you want? The one closer to the window or the one by the wall?" I asked him."The one near the window, please." he replied. I nodded and fell back onto the bed near the wall and sighed. This mission was going to be a drag and I could tell.

"So, where should we start?" Roxas asked as he sat on his bed. I shrugged and sat up, thinking of what we should do first. My mind began to wander from topic to topic. "Hey, Axel?" he asked. "What?" I replied.

"What was really on the drawings?" he questioned. "I already told you. It was me." I lied. "I know you're lieing. We've been best friends for a long time, so I can see right through you. I want to know!" Roxas said. "It was nothing!" I replied, embarrassed. " 'Kay, whatever." he said, shrugging his shoulders.

"Anyway... what should we do first?" he asked. "Well, we should probably look at the places the heartless was seen and try to figure out what exactly we're looking for." I replied. "Okay. Let's get Demyx and Xigbar." he said.

We walked next door to Demyx and Xigbar's room and knocked, despite the "do not disturb" sign. Demyx opened the door almost immediately, making me and Roxas jump back slightly. "Hi Axel and Roxas! What's up?" he asked with a kiddish smile. "well, we were going to go investigate about the heartless. Get Xigbar. We're going." I replied. "I'm right here. Let's go." Xigbar said as he pushed past Roxas and I into the hallway.
