I laid awake in my bed. It was only a few hours since we came home from the hospital. Carly was released and given some pain medication. She fell asleep as soon as we got home and so did I, but I couldn't stay asleep for long. Noah was plaguing my thoughts already, but that hospital visit really did it for me.
'I have to have him'
I took a deep breath. I couldn't take it. The next time I saw him, I'm going to....I'm going to...
'Dammit, what did I want?' I took another deep breath. 'You want his number dummy.' I was so lost in thought that I didn't hear Carly come in.
"Can I chill in here?" She softly asked. I nodded and moved the the right side of my bed. She shuffled across the room to my bed and laid right next to me. We both stared at the ceiling in silence. After a while, she finally talked. "What are you thinking about?"
I sighed, "To be honest, Noah."
"Noah?"
"Nurse Jacobs." She nodded her head.
"You think he's cute?" I nodded.
"He's the person I bumped into Thursday." She chuckled.
"What a coincidence. Is he nice?"
"No. Not to me at least."
"Perfect, you'll love him." She groaned, turning to face me. "I think this is a perfect time to tell you that I gave him your number." I quickly looked at her.
"Are you serious?" I was fuming, but somewhat ecstatic.
"Yeah." she shrugged "He asked for it once you left to get the car started, and I was like 'sure why not?' " I squinted my eyes at her.
"Is there anything else you need to tell me?" I folded my arms. She hummed.
"Hmm...Yeah. He told me to give you the most cryptic message I've ever heard in my life." She scratched her head "He said 'Hell is getting colder by the second'" I laughed.
What ever game he was playing, I knew that he was already winning.

Here we were, back at the hospital for Carly's weekly Chemo. I was almost a week and Noah still hadn't texted me. I was upset, but I brushed it off and forgot about it until I was confronted by the thought that I was going to have to see him today due to the fact that Carly was forcing me to stay seating until he came around. I stopped being scared, and sucked it up. I was pretty, wasn't I? I could have any guy I wanted.
'But you want him, dummy.'
I continued to stare off into space until Carly snapped her fingers in front of my eyes. "Did you hear anything I said?" I looked down and shook my head. "Of course. Nurse Jacobs should be here in a few minutes." I nodded. That gave me a some time to mentally prepare seeing him.
"Hello Ms.Green." My head shot up. I guess I didn't have enough time. I could only imagine my facial expression. I tried to keep my eyes off him by going on Tumblr, which was the worst idea I've had in my existance of living. Porn, Porn, Porn. Cartoons, Food, Porn, A picture of a plant, Porn.
"Kaylee!" Carly yelled in my ear. I jumped from the surprise attack on my ears. "Was you in your head again?" I looked up and Carly and Noah were looking at me. I started to blush out of embarrassment.
I nodded, "Uh, Yeah. My bad. What did you say?"
She rolled her eyes "How about you and Nurse Jacobs go get me some food, yeah?" She gave me a look and I knew exactly what she was doing.
"Sure, friend." I smiled that her, making sure she knew that I was angry. She returned my smile. I looked at Noah, he grinned, as if he knew what our private conversation was. I turned around and started walking to the elevators.
When we entered the elevators, he automatically started talking. "Sorry I didn't text you. I've been busy here." I raised my eyebrows. Of course he was, once I thought about it. He was here early in the day, then worked in the emergency room, of course he was busy.
"Uh, It's okay." feeling uncomfortable with this conversation already.
"I'm going to make it up to you." I grew nervous, why was he being nice all of a sudden? "I'm going to take you on a date."
"Excuse me?"
"I'm going to take you on a date." The elevator stopped and we started walking towards the food court. I couldn't help but to smile.
"Well, okay." I was grinning like an idiot. "Where are you taking me?"
"That little Kaylee-" He looked at the subway menu "is a surprise." We ordered our sandwiches and ate in the cafeteria, giving me time to fully settle into the thought of him taking me out.
We reached the elevator and he pressed the up button. He turned around and grabbed me by my waist. He held me close to him and pressed his mouth against my ear. "Be ready at nine, Kitten." He kissed my cheek and walked down the hall, away from the elevators. I looked around and saw a group of old women giggling at the interaction. I couldn't help but to giggle along with them.
