Amalie still sobs into my chest, making my skin a bit damp. I pull her away and say, "look. We'll work this out eventually. Don't worry. I promise." I give her a reassuring smile whilst whipping tears of her cheeks. I think about what she said earlier, when a though then came to my head. "I know you don't have a twin sister. So that means we can fake your identity. Just come up with a different name, do something to your hair, just change things up and then hopefully know one will recognise you." A big grin sweeps across Amalies face. "Oh Thomas I love you! I'll dye my hair. Maybe get it cut and then whenever we go out, call me..... Umm. Call me Harriet!" Amalie says with such enthusiasm. Harriet was a beautiful name, but I still preferred Amalie. "Harriet it is then." She comes in for a hug and squeezed me tightly. "If you could go to the shop and buy me some hair dye then I can do that here and maybe cut my own hair." Everything was a bit of a blur. Everything went by so quickly.

"Okay. This is it. Goodbye long beautiful brown hair." Amalie said, a worried look animated her face. She took the scissors and cut a chunk out of her hair. Her eyes widened in terror. Amalie took a deep breath and cut another chunk but from the other side, trying to keep it even. She asked me if I could cut the back as Amalie wouldn't be able to see. "Cut me a fringe." She said eagerly. I didn't know what to say. It was one thing actually cutting her hair at the back, but to have the responsibility to cut a fringe... Well that's a complete different story. With the scissors in one hand, and the hair in the other, I closed my and was about to cut when "THOMAS. Don't close your bloody eyes!" I opened my eyes and realised how stupid that was. I took a deep breath and slowly snipped at the bit of hair. It was only a side fringe, so I think that made it easier. There. It was done. We both looked at each other and smiled. But cutting hair wasn't enough, we needed to dye it. I let Amalie do it herself because I had no clue to what I was doing. I sat outside the door and waited. I couldn't remember the colour I bought, so the final result we be a big surprise for me. The door unlocked and opened to reveal the last look. Short, ginger hair. "Stunning." I said with a sigh of relief. "You really think so?" Amalie said whilst pulling the right side of her hair behind the ear. "I know so." Our heads touched and we kissed.
