The next morning, I dressed in brown and tan dress and braided my hair into a long braid down my back. After a small breakfast, I walked with Aragorn down to the council room. I sat down next to him and we talked about things until everyone had come into the room. Legolas was siting opposite me. I smiled at him. The I looked at the others in the room. Gandalf, Frodo, Boromir and his council men, Gimli and his council men, Aragorn, Elrond, Elrohir, Elldan and Legolas and his council elves. I was the only lady present. I wondered why. The Elrond called for silence and everyone went quiet. Then Father started one his long speeches.
"Strangers from distance lands, friends of old, you've been summoned here to answer the threat of Mordor. Middle Earth stands upon the brink of destruction. None can escape it! You will unite or you will fall." While saying this he looked at Legolas then Gimli. Elves and dwarves don't have a very good past. He then continued
"Each race is bound to this fate, this one doom. Bring forth the Ring Frodo." Frodo got up and placed the ring onto the stone table into the middle of room. Boromir got up at once and walked towards the Ring. He was saying something about a dream. Who cares about a dream? Then his hand went out the touch the Ring. Both Elrond and I shouted
"Boromir!" The Gandalf got up and started quoting in Black Speech. I shivered at the words and slammed my eyes shut trying to block out the words. Father's hand has on his forehead and Legolas was gripping his chair and closing his eyes. When Gandalf was finished, Father got up and said coldly
"Never before had any voice uttered the words of that tongue in Imladris." Gandalf walked around us and replied
"I don't ask for a pardon, Master Elrond. For the Black Speech of Mordor may yet be heard in all the corners of the West!" Turning Boromir he said
"The Ring is altogether evil!" I stood up and walked up to the Ring. As I didn't get a good look at it before. Someone was saying something to me, I think but I didn't listen. I wasn't a fool like Boromir and try the touch it but I used my eyes to touch it. The was plain gold and I could tell something was with the Ring. I was right, it did have a humming sound. Someone grabbed my hand. I turned to see Elrond had a firm grip on my hand.
"Vilya sit down!" His voice held that warning.
"Father...." He cut me off, by pushing me into my seat. I sat there without a sound. Boromir shook his head and said
"But it is a gift. A gift to the foes of Mordor. Why not use the Ring?" That's when I lost it with him.
"Are you out if your mind?" I asked sharply. Boromir looked at me and was about to say something but went back to the subject of taking the Ring.
"Long has my father, kept the forces of Mordor at bay, by the blood of our people, while your lands are kept safe." I rolled my eyes and thought what does he want? Five stars?!? I couldn't believe he was still going
"Give Gondor the weapon of the enemy, let us use it against him!" Aragorn lean forward in his chair and replied
"You cannot wield it! None of us can! The One Ring answers to Sauron alone. It has no other master."
"And what a ranger know of such matters?" Boromir asked with a threat in his voice. Legolas couldn't take any more. I couldn't either but Legolas jumped out of his seat and said
"This is no mere ranger. He is Aragorn son of Arathorn. You owe his your alliance!" That was a bad thing to say. Aragorn hates it then people say that.
"This is Isildur's heir?" Legolas replied
"And heir to the throne of Gondor." Aragorn had had enough now.
"Havo dad, Legolas." Legolas sat back down. Boromir glared at Aragorn and said
"Gondor has no king. Gondor needs no king." And sat down. Of all the cheek! I thought to myself. Gandalf broke the silence by saying
"Aragorn is right. We cannot use it!" Elrond stood up, quickly looked at me and said
"You have but one choice. The Ring must be destroyed!"
The dwarf, Gimli stood up and grabbing his axe said
"What are we waiting for?" He brought his axe down on the Ring. His axe shattered into a thousand pieces. At once my hand went to my face, but no piece came my way. Elrond had a slight look of amusement and said
"The Ring cannot be destroyed, Gimli son of Glòin, by any craft which we here posses. The Ring was made in the fires of Mount Doom. Only there can it by unmade. It must be taken deep into Mordor and cast back into the fire from which it came. One of you must do this!"
