I couldn't remember how much time had passed since Furlan and I began our journey. The first week had been tough. I was injured, and we had no idea where to start. All I wanted was to head straight for the Walls. There, I knew I would be sheltered from the seemingly endless Titans we encountered daily. However, knowing that the trio of young Titan shifters had likely survived, Wall Maria would be in chaos. It pained me to think about the people in Shiganshina perishing, but I knew Furlan, and I could do little to help them. Plus, we would likely be taken out before reaching the Walls with the Garrison on high alert. Instead, we decided to stay put until I healed.

After about a week, I was finally able to walk again. Now, we had no excuse but to move on from the little base we had set up. Together, Furlan and I decided to stay away from the Walls for as long as we could—or at least until we had exhausted all of our options.

After years of finding only a few abandoned buildings, we stumbled upon a wall. As far as I knew, the only walls that existed in "Titan land"—a nickname I had jokingly suggested that somehow stuck—were located in the opposite direction from where we currently were. I was sure of this because I had meticulously mapped out practically all of "Titan Land" using self-made paper and charcoal, a skill I had learned from a random documentary I watched with my brother.

Once we found a way around the unfamiliar wall, we came across a dock. At first, I was surprised that humanity had ventured this far in the past. Then, I recalled my brief conversation with Reiner all those years ago. He had called me several colourful names, such as 'devil' and 'Eldian scum,' heavily implying that he saw me as something different.

In my world, sea travel marked the beginning of global trade and exploration. Thus, the existence of the dock and Reiner's words led me to believe there were likely other places besides "Titan Land" out there and that this world was a lot more developed than I had been led to believe in the anime.

To test my theory, Furlan and I decided to wait to see if anyone would show up. This was the first clue we had found during our entire voyage, so it would have been foolish not to wait and gather as much information as possible. However, after months of waiting, nothing happened.

Disheartened, we lost all hope of achieving our respective goals. I checked my maps one last time. Only one area was left blank: the Walls of Humanity themselves.

"Do you reckon the Walls are much further from here?" Furlan whined childishly. Two weeks had passed since we left our camp at the docks, and the Walls still weren't in sight.

"How am I supposed to know? You're the one who's been to them before, not me," I pointed out, scanning my makeshift maps, trying to pinpoint exactly where we were. Ironically, even though I had made the maps, I wasn't the best at navigating them.

"You're the one who made the damn things. What's the point in even making them if you can't use them?" Furlan huffed at me, crossing his arms in frustration. He stopped, leaned against a tree, and decided it was time to rest while I figured out our path. With Furlan's large body, it was more taxing for him to walk long distances, resulting in more frequent stops.

"It's not my fault they don't go this far. We had to avoid the Scouts and other Titans, remember? My maps are practically useless here." I rolled up the worthless papers and slid them back into the hemp-woven bag I had fashioned. We'd learned early on our journey that the Walls were a hot spot for Titan activity—which made sense as their prey resided within them.
