-------------------- Chapter Eight ---------------------
I woke up sobbing into someone's chest, my hands clenched full of the persons' shirt. The room was dark, even though my eyes were wide open.
My eyes had been wide open, the whole time. I knew they were yellow instead of blue, without even looking into a mirror.
The person had me in his lap and was stroking my hair, rocking slightly. His arms were around me. When my eyes came into focus, I blinked the water out of them, sending the last of my tears away.
I briefly wondered who was holding me, but I didn't care. I was way too tired to care.
I turned into the person, placing my head on his chest. I briefly breathed in a strong smell of sweet citrus coming off the person, but I fell asleep before I could be bothered to talk.
(Ash's POV)
They had thrown Arianna and me inside a room, clothes with us. I rolled to the side, trying to shift back, but I couldn't. Whatever they had stuck into me was supposed to keep me from doing anything while they moved me.
I jumped as clothes hit my head, waking me. I felt the last of the injection fizzle out of my blood, so I shifted and changed.
I turned around to see Arianna slumped on the floor. Her eyes were wide open, but weren't that beautiful blue. No, they were bright yellow.
I rushed over as she started whining. Her eyes were open, but they were unfocused. My heart constricted as she started crying, the tears falling silently down her pale face.
I sat down with her and pulled her into my lap. I couldn't help but think that she fit perfectly into my arms. Her hands gripped the shirt I was wearing, and I was wondering what was happening to her.
And why we were here.
She started sobbing, and my hand moved to stroke her hair. When I touched her I caught a glimpse of her mind. I was myself and her, with Adrian on her back. She was running ahead of me when she stopped and collapsed.
I moved Adrian and she exploded into a white wolf.
My head jerked back as the image faded. No wonder she was crying. That would have hurt to be forced to change. I bundled her closer to my chest, and I watched as her eyes changed colour. She blinked and the last of her tears fell from her eyes.
It made my heart wrench to see her cry.
She turned into my chest, her heart resting there. I watched her eyes shut. She sniffed me and fell asleep. Why does she keep sniffing me? Do I smell weird or something?
I knew she was my mate, but I wouldn't tell her that. We're from different packs. I'm the Alpha. I shouldn't even be here.
