-------------------- Chapter Twelve --------------------
(Ash's POV)
I looked down at Ari, asleep in my arms. She fell asleep before she could tell me why she had cried.
I guess I would too if what happened to her happened to me.
I mean, getting kidnapped (can you call it kidnapped if we were forced to go to him?), then coming for help and getting rejected, then dying and being brought back to life to find out she had been mated. And on top of that, her brothers freaking out about it and them then choking me.
It's a lot to take in for one day. For anyone.
I sighed and slowly got up, not bumping Ari. I walked up the stairs, barely noticing the shield had disappeared. I walked up the stairs, careful not to make a sound.
I wondered why she said I smelt like a sweet citrus smell. I smelt her hair, and wondered if that was what I smelt on her.
I sniffed again, and realised that that was the exact smell I smelt on her. Was it her smell or mine?
I drifted down the hallway, until I came to the only open door. I looked in and it was Ari's room.
I opened the door wider and went to place her on the bed. She looked so peaceful, her ringlety black hair spread out on the white sheets. She looked like an angel.
I slipped her under the covers and tried to pull away, but she growled at me.
"Shh, let go Ari." I whispered.
She growled at me again. I sighed and tried to pry her hands off of my shirt.
"She's not going to let go, you know." someone said from behind me. I look over my shoulder to see one of her five brothers leaning up against the door frame, arms crossed over his chest.
"Um... How do I get her off?" I ask, a little awkwardly.
"I'm Andre, the alpha of this pack." He introduces himself, walking over and holding his hand out. I shake it, and ask him my question again.
"Like I said, she's not going to let go. Once she's got something, she's not going to let go of it, ever." I groan at this, what am I going to do?
"So, what do I do?" I ask him carefully.
"You get in with her, and go to sleep." He says matter-of-factly.
"I can't do that! She'll hate me if she finds out." I pull back away from her, so I'm sitting away from her bed. Her hands are empty of my shirt finally.
"Look at her." He commands. I look over at her face, and regret it. Her faced is fraught with sadness, and uneasiness. It looks as if she is having a horrendous nightmare.
