-------------------- Chapter Twenty-One --------------------
When I walk downstairs to have breakfast, Adrian is sitting at the kitchen bench on a high stool swinging his legs.
I sneak up behind him, before pulling him into a hug.
"Ari! You're here!" He laughs, hugging me back.
"Yep! Like I said I would!" I say smiling.
"Can you make me breakfast? Ash is still in the shower." He asks me, pouting.
"Sure, what do you want?" I ask.
"Coco Pops please!" He laughs. I smile at him, and reach up to get a bowl. I tip the cereal, some in his bowl and some in mine.
I pour the milk in, and put a small spoon in each, before sitting next to him.
We eat in silence; the only sound is the shower upstairs.
When we finish, I take his bowl and wash up.
Then I follow Adrian into the lounge, and he sits with his head in my lap.
I faintly watch whatever kids show is on.
"Hey Ari?"
"Yeah? What's up?"
"Are you Ash's girlfriend?"
I choke on air. "His what?"
"Girlfriend. His girlfriend." God this kid is aware of everything.
"Ummm... No?" I say, still choking on air.
Adrian sits up and looks me in the eye.
"So he hasn't asked you yet?" He demands, putting his hands on his hips.
"Uh, no he hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend." I say, thinking the idea impossible, impossible now anyway. Being Ash's girlfriend hadn't even crossed my mind.
"Do you want to be his girlfriend?" He asks, serious again.
"Um, I guess if he asks me..." I trail off. Be Ash's girlfriend? I never thought about it. I do like him, and I hope he likes me.
I feel to arm arms wrap around me shoulder little sparks connecting between our skin.
"Really? Ari, do you want to be my girlfriend?" Ash asks.
