THERE WERE TEARS IN LUCAS' EYES as he watched Max wake up, slowly opening her eyes, his name falling from her lips in a soft whisper.

Bea watched on in joy, tears welling up in her eyes as well as she realised her friend was finally awake. She had spent so long worried she had failed her and yet here she was.

"Are you okay? Do you hurt anywhere?" He asked, voice breaking slightly.

"I cant feel much," she managed to say, voice hoarse, "The lights are really bright,"

Vickie stepped in, "You havent used your eyes or your muscles for a long time, its normal, it will readjust," she promised

"You'll be okay Max," Bea reassured.

"I saw you Lucas, waiting for me, playing my song," she said through tears, "It turns out this whole time, I didn't even need it. I just needed you,"

Bea couldnt stop the tears from spilling down her cheeks as he lifted her up, holding her close. She loved those kids like they were her own. Her heart skipped a beat as she realised she'd soon have her own.

But her revelation didn't last long because then Mike, Hopper, Kali and El walked over, rushing in when they realised that Max was awake.

"You're here," El said in shock.

"Took your sweet time didn't you?" Mike joked, his arms wrapped his mum as he made sute she was okay.

Max laughed, head against Lucas' chest, "Screw you Wheeler," she squinted, eyes adjusting to the light as she looked around, "Where am I?"

"We were being hunted by the Demodogs and we were seconds away from death when Mrs Wheeler saved us," Robin explained.

"Vecna will try and find me," Max said, "He'll know we escaped,"

Mikes brow furrowed as he questioned why she said 'we' and then he realised she must have been with his sister, "Where's Holly?"

She explained everything about how they had escaped through Henry's memories and that he had to let Holly go back to where her body was, not where Max's was.

"I figured she would be in the Upside Down so I told her to go home," Max explained.

"The nearest rift to our house is off Cornwallis I think, about a mile and a half," Max explained before he was cut off by the sound of his sister on the radio.

Bea sat down on the table next to Max, helping to hold her upright as Lucas answered the radio message, "Erica, I can't talk right now,"

She brushed a hand through Max's hair as she thought about how glad she was that she was finally back, ignoring the discussion the others were having about how to get Holly back.
