BEA AND JONATHAN PULLED UP outside of his house at about 10am. It was in his car because despite it being her 18th birthday and her dad getting her a car, he was late again.
They saw two other cars in the driveway and looked at each other, not thinking much of it.
"Hurry up," Jonathan said as he stood at the door to his house.
"One minute," Bea said she fumbled with something in her pocket. Jonathan rushed over, slinging her over his shoulder and carrying her to the door.
Bea punched his back, her necklace hitting him constantly because of the momentum.
"Let me go Jonathan,' she said as he kicked the door open, both of them laughing.
"Hey Jonathan, thought you weren't back till later," Joyce said as she walked out of the kitchen quickly, another man following her out.
Jonathan let Bea go and she smiled, turning around and seeing the man.
"You must be Bob," Bea said as she walked over to him.
"I didn't know Jonathan had a girlfriend," Bob said as he stuck his thumbs up at Jonathan, eliciting a laugh from Bea and Joyce.
"No, I'm not his girlfriend, we're just best friends," she said and Bob smiled nervously.
"Sorry, I didn't re-" he started but Bea waved it off.
"Don't worry, we get the comment a lot," she said and for a second everyone was quiet until Bea sighed.
"It's really nice to meet you, I've heard a lot about you,' she said and Bob laughed.
"All good thing I hope," he said and Bea laughed.
"Yeah, anyway, me and Jonathan should get going, we just came to get something, it was lovely meeting you," she said and Bob smiled back at her.
"Nice meeting you too,' he said and Bea reached over, grabbing Jonathans hand and rushing into the room, both of them laughing.
"So thats Bob," she said and Jonathan sighed, sitting on his bed. Joyce and Bob had been dating for about 4 months now and Bea hadn't met him because Jonathan and Will only met them about a month ago as Joyce wanted to make sure the relationship would last.
Jonathan sighed, leaning his head against the wall.
"Yeah, I don't know what mum sees in him," Jonathan said and Bea sighed lightly.
"He's a nice guy Jonathan, anyway, we should get going if we want to get a slice of my mums cake," Bea said and Jonathan laughed.
They both walked out, grabbing the mixtape which is what they came for in the first place. They walked out of the house after saying goodbye to Joyce and Bob but on the way out the Wheelers car arrived and Will stepped out.
"Bea," he said, rushing up to her and engulfing her in a hug. She just laughed, hugging him back.
"Hey Peanut, how's the new arcade?" She asked and he smiled.
"It was awesome, you should have come, it is your birthday after all,' He said and Bea laughed.
"I know, but mum wanted a family get together so I dragged Jonathan into it," she said before checking her watch.
"Well we've got to hurry up but have a good day peanut," she said before walking off with Jonathan, waving to Mrs Wheeler before she drove off.
Bea and Jonathan drove back to her house where they were greeted by her mum and a very excited looking Dustin.
"Just in time for some food, come sit you two, come sit," her mum said in an excited tone and they walked in, Mews following them methodically.
Bea sat next to her mum and opposite Jonathan who sat next to Dustin.
"I couldn't cook much, we all know who the chef in this family is and it isn't me but I hope you enjoy sweetie," her mum said, kissing Bea on the temple and Bea smiled, looking over at Jonathan who was smiling back at her.
He knew about her strained relationship with her mum and Bea was really trying to fix it.
The four started eating the pizza that her mum had made and about halfway through they got a call and Bea jumped up, hoping it was her dad or maybe Steve.
"Henderson Residence, who is it?" Bea asked and it was a panicked Joyce on the other end, explaining that Will had another episode and that Jonathan needs to come home.
Bea rushed out, relaying everything to Jonathan who immediately stood up, thanking Bea's mum for the food before rushing out, leaving her present on the side.
Bea sat down, about to eat again when she heard someone ring the doorbell.
She stared at the door annoyed, having just sat down again. Bea begrudgingly stood up and opened the door with a very annoyed expression plastered on her face.
That all changed when she saw Steve outside, a huge grin spreading over her face."Happy birthday Bear," he said, holding his arms out. Bea smiled, hugging her other best friend who she had grown really close to over the last few months and especially since the incident.
"Woah, woah, woah, don't want to squish your present Bear," he said and she laughed, pulling away and looking at him, leaning against the side of the door.
"I have to be quick, dads being a class A asshole but I just had to drop this off." He said, handing her a present. Bea hugged him again and he laughed, kissing her gently on the forhead before looking into her house and seeing her family at the table.
"Sorry to intrude, I'll just go," he said and she sighed.
"K, thanks for stopping off Steve, see you on Monday." She said and he smiled, walking off and waving back at her.
"Have a great day Bear," he said before driving off.
