A/N - I loved the dynamic of Steve and Reader so much in that last chapter that I decided to do a part 2 before even posting part 1. This one is set at the end of Season 5, so there will probably be a couple of story spoilers, but nothing too major (and it's like late Jan now, it's been 3 weeks since the finale came out, so if you've not finished it by now, why are you wasting time reading my book rather than watching the show?). This one was inspired by At Last by Etta James. I hope you all enjoy it.
You took a deep breath as you stood in front of the mirror, brushing your hands over the skirt of the dress you'd chosen to wear for the kid's graduation. You'd been honoured when Dustin had asked you to come, not that you had really doubted it. He'd been in your life for years now, almost as long as Steve had been, and you'd been through so much together that it only made sense for your lives to remain intertwined.
"Aren't you a pretty picture," Steve hummed, moving to lean against the doorframe behind you, grinning from ear to ear in his suit. Your eyes roamed over his reflection in the mirror for a moment, a soft smile pulling at your lips. You hadn't seen him all dressed up like this in almost a year, not since the two of you had gone to town hall and tied the knot. He shifted forward when you didn't answer him, wrapping his arm around your middle and pressing a kiss to the skin between your neck and shoulder, drawing a line of goosebumps to the surface.
"We've got to leave in 3 minutes," you reminded him. "We can't be late," you added, turning in his grip to press a chaste kiss to his lips. "It would break Dustin's heart if we missed his speech."
Steve let out a soft sigh, his head falling back in frustration. "That kid is such a cockblock, even when he's not here," he muttered, drawing a soft bubble of laughter out of you as you wrapped your hands into the lapels of his jacket.
"That kid isn't a kid anymore," you hummed softly, pulling him in to kiss him again. "And we've got to make the most of having him here before he goes to college, so come on, let's go."
"Can't even make love to my beautiful wife-"
"Steve," you yelped, cutting off his grumbling. "Later," you promised. "After everyone's gone home, I swear you'll have me all to yourself."
*Time Skip*
Steve's hand lingered on your hip as he passed you a soda from the cool box, pressing a kiss to the side of your head as you hummed a soft thank you.
"Married life looks good on you two," Jonathan started, still reclined in his lawnchair, but watching you over the rim of his beer bottle. "Suits you."
You let out a soft chuckle at his comment, shaking your head. "I swear, I didn't think it was possible, but Steve is 1000x better as a husband than he was as a boyfriend. Makes being his wife a lot easier."
Steve let a soft, contented hum slip out of him as he tightened his hold on you slightly. "She's worth being good for," he confessed quietly, grinning when you turned your eyes on him, wrinkling your nose slightly. You'd always loved to tease him for being so cheesy, waxing lyrical about how he felt about you, but recently, you'd finally been able to begin to accept it for what it was. Love. Pure, unadulterated adoration.
You lifted your hand, placing it over his on your hip. "We actually had something to tell you guys," you started softly, giving Steve another gentle smile as his hand shifted, his arm tightening around you slightly as he moved his palm to rest on your stomach. "We're having a baby," you finally hummed, and if you had been able to look away from Steve, you were sure the expressions on your friends' faces would've been a sight to see.
"Oh my God," Robin started, stumbling awkwardly out of her seat to get to you, wrapping herself around both of you in a tight hug. "Baby Harrington," she pressed, tears brimming in her eyes.
"I'm so happy for you guys," Nancy added, following suit and coming to join your little huddle.
"Should've known something was up when Y/N started turning down beer," Jonathan teased, clapping Steve on the back, drawing a hearty chuckle out of your husband.
Steve grinned as he pulled you back into his side, finally getting you back after losing you to the girls to talk about the pregnancy, and your due date, and all things adult life. "Hey, Pretty Girl," he hummed softly, and the way you smiled up at him had been enough to floor him for a moment, taking his breath away.
"I'm craving ice cream real bad," you murmured, pressing your face into his chest for just a second. "Like, so bad that I might start being mean if we don't have some in the next hour."
"Right," he exclaimed a little louder, releasing his hold on you slightly. "My Girl needs to eat," he pressed on. "So, we're going to love you and leave you, and we'll see you all at breakfast tomorrow," he added, sending a small salute to the other three.

"It's going to be weird not having them all in town when the baby comes," you hummed quietly to Steve. "Isn't it?" you added, your voice so soft that Steve had reached out to turn down the radio in the car to hear you properly.
"Yeah, it'll be weird," he agreed. "But they'll come back. They'll want to meet our little kiddo. They'll want to see us."
You let out a soft hum of agreement when he'd reached over to squeeze your knee lightly.
"We could always move closer to them-"
"And leave Hawkins? Are you kidding?" you started, your words coming out in a humourless laugh. "I've never been out of this town for more than a week at a time. I don't know how I'd cope."
Steve shrugged slightly. "Well, you'd have me and our little one," he reassured you. "We could go up to Massachusetts. Find a little place somewhere between Smith and MIT and be within an hours drive of Robin, Dustin, and Nancy in Boston-"
"You'd do that for me? Uproot your entire life and-"
"Baby, I would do anything for you. You know that," Steve interrupted, his thumb brushing lightly over the skin of your knee. "Besides, I coach middle schoolers. I can do that anywhere," he reminded you.
You hesitated for a moment, considering the life you could have, comparing it to your future in Hawkins.
"Let's do it," you finally blurted, watching as Steve's smile grew.
"Yeah?"
You nodded enthusiastically, reaching down to link your fingers with his. "The Harringtons are moving to Massachusetts," you hummed softly. "It's got a ring to it, huh?"
