A/N - This chapter was inspired by the song Man I Need by Olivia Dean. This is set before the beginning of Season 4, so Eddie and Reader are both blissfully unaware of the Upside Down or anything that comes with it. It is also based on the above tweet, which immediately made me think of Eddie, tbh. I hope you all enjoy it.
You could picture Eddie perfectly as he rambled down the phone to you, running you through his plan for the upcoming Hellfire campaign. You could basically see the way he was leaning against the wall, the phone tucked between his ear and his shoulder, his fingers fiddling with the cord. He was probably already in his pyjama bottoms, usually was within minutes of walking into the trailer, and some ratty band tee he'd found at the Goodwill when you'd dragged him along with you.
Hell, you'd been dating Eddie for so long now, had known him for even longer, that he was becoming pretty damn predictable. So, whilst you were lying in bed, listening to him explain each and every detail of a campaign you wouldn't be joining, you could close your eyes and see him perfectly.
"Are you listening to me, Princess?" he hummed softly, breaking off his own train of thought.
"Mhm," you answered quietly, shuffling further under the blankets with the landline clutched in your freezing cold hand. "Sorry," you mumbled. "The house is really cold; I was getting a little distracted," you pressed.
"You not got the heating on?"
You let out a soft sigh. "The boiler died this morning. No hot water until after the weekend. On the coldest night in Indiana's records," you murmured. "I might have to swing by yours for a shower tomorrow," you added, and you could already imagine the way he would be smirking at the mere idea of you being butt naked in the trailer.
"Y/N?" your mom called up the stairs. "I need to call Grandma. 2 Minute warning," she added, and you let out another soft sigh.
"Sorry, Ed, Mom needs the phone," you hummed, tugging the blanket further up around you. "I'm going to have to let you go, Baby."
Eddie was quiet for a moment before he cleared his throat quietly. "Okay, Sweetheart. Sleep tight, Princess."
"Goodnight, Ed."
*Time Skip*
It had been pitch black in your room when you'd startled awake, unsure of what had actually woken you. You grumbled as you turned over, only to freeze when you felt the mattress dip slightly behind you.
You lay there silently for a moment, unmoving until you felt a hand on your hip, a warm palm shifting to rest over your stomach.
"You awake, Princess?"
You sat up suddenly. "Eddie, what the fuck?" you bit at him, and in the darkness, Eddie could just about make out the scowl that painted your features.
"What?"
"How did you get in?"
"Why are you so concerned with how I got in? Just cuddle me back, for fuck sake. You're ruining the moment," he grumbled, reaching to drag you back into his chest, relieved when you allowed him to manipulate your body until you were tucked into his side. "You weren't kidding; it's freezing in here."
You hesitated for a moment, appreciating the warmth of his body for just a couple of seconds. "What are you doing here?"
You felt him shrug against you, his warm hands making their way up your pyjama top to press his palms to the icy skin along your spine. "You said you were cold," he hummed softly, shifting to press his face into the crook of your neck, letting out a soft contented murmur of appreciation. "And, I'm like a human radiator, so I thought it would be good if I came and warmed you up. Save you from frostbite."
"Wow," you teased softly, grinning as you leaned further into Eddie's embrace, letting your fingers stray under the confines of the Black Sabbath t-shirt he was wearing to press them against the warmth of his stomach, caressing the soft skin as he flinched slightly at the icy sensation. "You're so selfless," you added softly, chuckling when he pressed forward to capture you in a quick kiss.
"The most selfless guy going," he agreed quietly, his breath evening out slightly as the two of you warmed. "We really should get your circulation checked out, you know? Your hands are always freezing."
You hummed out a small agreement. "My feet are always cold too," you reminded him, lifting one of them to brush your toes against his ankle, nudging the leg of his pyjamas further up to press your skin to his.
"Jesus Christ," he chuckled softly. "It's like I'm dating a snowwoman, or something. My little ice queen," he pressed.
You let out a soft breath when he pressed another quick kiss to your lips, followed by a quick peck to the tip of your nose. "Thank you for coming over here, Ed," you hummed.
"Couldn't let my girl freeze," he murmured, brushing off the comment like it was nothing. Because, honestly, to Eddie it was. He had always been someone who couldn't do things by half. He was all-in or nothing. So, the second he had realised he was in love with you, he had gone about making sure he loved you to the best of his ability. Which was always far more than you ever expected or felt you deserved. "What kind of boyfriend passes up on the possibility of getting to cuddle with their best girl AND getting to keep her all warm and cosy, huh?"
The two of you stayed quiet for a little while, bathing in the little warm bubble that was forming under the covers. And then, out of nowhere, you'd cleared your throat, clearly thinking about something.
"Hey Ed?"
"Yeah, Baby?"
"How'd you get in?"
