A/N - Hello, Hello everyone! The one is a little something based on the song Stereohearts by Gym Class Heroes and Adam Levine. I hope you all enjoy it.

Eddie was pretty sure he'd never heard you so quiet. I mean, usually, you couldn't go a session of Hellfire without chattering about anything and everything. It took a good thirty minutes to even get around to playing, usually, but today, you'd barely even uttered a greeting, sitting yourself in your regular spot and offering up a half-hearted smile when Eddie had called a greeting up the table to you.

And, despite your completely out-of-place behaviour, it seemed like none of the other boys had noticed a thing, leaving Eddie frowning when you trailed him back to the van like you always did, hitching a ride back to the trailer park with Eddie like it was second nature.

And then, once you were in the safety of the van, you'd still been quiet, staring through the windshield without saying a word, the hum of the radio barely breaking the silence and slowly but surely driving Eddie completely and utterly insane.

"Right," he grumbled as he pulled up outside of your place, noting how all the lights were still out. Your parents weren't home again, probably already both down in the same dive bar they'd always frequented, drinking away what little money they had left over after paying the bills. "What's wrong?"

You blinked slightly, your hand hesitating on the doorhandle, calculating, working out how easy it would be to lie to him. To lie to Eddie. To lie to your best friend.

"Logan and I broke up," you muttered, your hand finally retreating into your lap.

"Oh shit, Y/N, I'm sorry-"

"Don't be. I was the one that called it," you interjected.

You watched his brow furrow slightly. "I thought you liked him."

"I did," you hummed. "Shit, I really liked him, but I'm not sure he liked me all that much." When you glanced at Eddie, he looked lost, and you let out a soft chuckle. "He forgot my birthday."

"What?"

"A couple of weeks back-"

"Yeah, I know when your birthday is, Y/N," he interrupted.  "But you didn't say anything about Logan-"

"Well, I was embarrassed, I guess," you hummed, shrugging. "He said he didn't really care about birthdays. And then he tried to say that he just hadn't really thought about it being my birthday, and-"

"Huh," Eddie murmured softly, his head tipping to the side.

Your brow furrowed slightly. "What?"

"I think I just realised that I don't think I've gone a day in all the years I've known you without thinking about you," he breathed softly. "Can't imagine just not thinking about you when I knew your birthday was coming up."

"Oh," you started.

"Sorry, you were talking," he pressed, praying that the street lights outside wouldn't be bright enough to show the red tint in his cheeks.

"I think I just finally realised that I deserved better than someone who didn't really think about me all that much," you started again. "So, I told him I was breaking up with him, and he didn't seem that sad about it, so I guess it was the right choice," you added, biting down on the inside of your cheek.

Eddie hesitated for a moment, still watching you out of the corner of his eye, figuring out the right thing to say. "Doesn't make it suck any less, huh?"

You let out a sharp bark of laughter, blinking away the tears that threatened to fall, gathering on your lash line. "Hell, you can say that again," you breathed out, lifting a hand to wipe away the couple of stray tears that had managed to escape.

"I know it's pretty cliche to say it, but it will get better. Give it a couple of weeks, and you'll forget all about the guy-"

"Why didn't you like him?" you interrupted suddenly, watching as Eddie's head swung to look straight at you.

"I never said I didn't like him-"

You shrugged slightly when he trailed off. "You didn't really have to. The way you looked at him sort of told me all I needed to know," you murmured. "You know he was terrified of you, right?"

He snorted. "Scared of the freak," he started.

"No. It wasn't like that," you breathed. "I think he always knew that you were better than him. Knew that I wouldn't ever really be happy because he could never treat me as well as you did. Knew that he would always come second to you," you confessed. "He told me he thought it was insane that you'd never made a move on me, because he could tell that I wouldn't even consider turning you down if you did."

Eddie swallowed down the lump in his throat. "He thought you had feelings for me?"

"No," you started softly, your tongue darting out to wet your bottom lip. "He knew I did."

For a second, you were worried that maybe you'd read Eddie wrong, watching as he froze on the spot, unmoving as he watched you. "Are you teasing me? For that thing I said about thinking about you-"

"Do you really think I could ever be that cruel?" you interrupted. "Ed, I've loved you since we were in Middle School," you confessed.

"Y/N," he murmured. "Sweetheart. If you're going to say that, you've got to be sure you mean it."

"Eddie. I love you."

He blinked for a moment, watching you carefully as if he was searching for even a hint of a lie on your features. Then, after a couple of seconds had passed, when he realised he would never find one, he leaned forward, pressing his forehead to yours lightly. And shit, it was probably one of the most intimate things you had ever experienced. Fuck, you'd spend almost a year repeatedly sleeping with Logan, and nothing that had ever happened with him had even come close to this moment.

You felt seen. You felt heard. Shit, you'd never felt so safe in your life.

"I love you," he breathed out, the words fanning across your lips, causing your eyes to drift closed, and only then did he close the gap, pressing his lips to yours in a gentle kiss.
