I spent the next few days sulking over everything that happened. It was stupid, I know. I should have gotten over it and never thought about it again, but I couldn't get it out of my mind.
Everything about Alex was likeable to me. It's not like I didn't enjoy the kiss. I just.. didn't know how Alex felt about the whole thing. I texted Trott Sunday morning.
I: Why the fuck would you do that to me?
T: Dude, I thought you liked him. I thought I was doing you a favor.
I: I don't know how Alex feels about me! He hasn't texted me since Friday morning before the stream, which is really odd.
T: Chill, E. I don't know why he hasn't texted you, but you did kinda act mad after the whole thing happened? You just stormed off to help Sam.
I hated when he was right.
I: Look, sorry for snapping at you or whatever but just.. try to stay out of my love life. Please.
T: No problem. Sorry, once again.
I: We're all good. Don't worry.
I shoved my phone into my pocket and went downstairs to hail a taxi so I could get some food and go grocery shopping. Right as I got down to the lobby, I saw Samuel complaining about something to the manager. He immediately stopped when he saw me.
"Hey! Io! What're you up to?"
"Uh, just gonna grab a bite to eat before I go get groceries," I explained.
"Sweet. You mind if I join you?" he asked.
"That's, um, fine I guess," I muttered. He followed me outside and opened his passenger side door for me. I let out a small thank you as he stepped into the driver's side.
"So, how was the livestream Friday night?" he questioned.
"It was.. good. We played a lot of GTA and Rocket League and stuff. Alex and his two friends almost threw up eating Yule logs and mince pies."
He nodded and hummed in approval. "Sounds eventful."
You don't know the half of it.
The rest of the car ride was fairly boring. We just talked about work and made small talk.
As we pulled up to a restaurant, it looked kind of.. shabby. I wasn't one to judge, but even Chinese takeout places looked better than this. When we stepped inside, I understood why.
"A bar? At 1PM?" I questioned.
"It's 5 o'clock somewhere."
I shrugged and took a seat at a booth in the corner of the joint and grabbed their menu from the end of the table. A waitress soon approached and asked what we wanted to drink.
"Rum and coke."
"I'll just take water," Samuel said cooly. The lady left and we sat in silence for a while until she returned.
"Successful first date," I joked, taking a sip of the nastiest rum and coke I'd ever had.
"Date?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.
