Corey: Happy Birthday Baby Girl. . . got a lot planned for you today
Me: Thanks sweetie. . . hush u know I wanna kno what you got up for us.
Corey: Just be ready.
Me: What time?
Corey: 2
Me: OkCorey had been my complete happiness since my break-up with Jake. Jake was still stalking me. I didn't care. Everytime he rode by, I would blow him a kiss and he would shoot the "fuck you" finger. Grandma wanted me to press charges on him stalking and harassing, but it didn't bother me. I was enjoying the attention. At times, I did miss Jake. But I had to move on.
Corey bought me a black two piece pencil skirt set from a boutique outside of Atlanta. To my surprise, it was a perfect fit. Corey had to have been a pro at the women. I never even told him what size I wear. I had the African braiders in east Atlanta to braid my hair, so I just swirled it into a high bun. I wore gold jewelry and a pair of black and gold heels. I didn't know exactly where we were going, but my outfit looked very "all purpose" to me.
Porsha: Happy Birthday Sista. I kno your still pissed but I miss our friendship. I would be pissed as well but I hope you can find it in your heart to attend my counseling ssession with me. I've been receiving help with dealing with my past and my future. The therapist asked me to bring 5 people who were most important in my life. You will always be in my top 5 sista. Join us at 5p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Help Center beside the mall. Love you and hope to see you there.
That was the first time either of us had any form of communication since the fight. I didn't know what to reply so I didn't. I really wanted to say "Congratulations bitch because you need serious help". But today was my day and Porsha just had to wait.
"Baby you looking very edible." Corey said to me as he licked his lips and watched me get comfortable in the passenger seat.
"Thank you sir. Now can you tell me where we're going?" He didn't answer. He just continued to look at me as if I were a steak.
"Corey shit!!" I yelled, laughing at him. " Where in the hell are we going?"
"Just ride baby. You gonna like it."
We rode for a while, mainly going in what seemed to be circles. We eventually pulled into the parking lot of a convention center. There were cars everywhere. I didn't ask any questions as we walked towards the building. I then noticed pictures of K.Michelle and Seven Streeter. He was taking me to a concert.
"Aawwww baby!! I love K. Michelle." I said, grabbing his arm and leaning my head on him.
" I know." he answered kissing my forehead. A kiss on the forehead. That reminded me of Jake. He always gave me kisses on the forehead and I would place my head inside of his chest, admiring his cologne.
As we walked through the inside the center, Corey continued to hold my hand. We had to wait in line to walk into the area where our seat were. Corey then let my hand go, walking behind me and standing butt to belt. He started to rub his hands up and down my arms, as if he were tryna warm me up. This was also something that Jake frequently did. In the movie line. Shopping for groceries. Walking through the park. Jake loved to rub on my arms. It was started to feel weird. So I took his arms and crossed them in front of me.
The concert ended about 3 hours after it started. I really enjoyed seeing my girl K. Michelle while cuddled with my boo Corey.
" So I take it you enjoyed yourself." asked Corey.
" Yep I really did. You could tell huh."
" Hell who couldn't. You came up out them heels and started screaming like a groupie."
"Leave me alone dude." I laughed.
" You don't scream for me like that when I walk in a room Natalie. . . .I'm jealous. Now when I open your door for you and walk to my side and get in the car you better scream for me like that or the rest of our day is cancelled." He walked me to the passenger side, opening the door for me. I sat down, still laughing. Corey was too silly for me. As he walked to the driver's side, I removed my heels and sat up in my seat.
"Yyeeeessss Coreeeeyyyyy Whoop whooooop!!" I screamed loud as I could multiple times as he laughed.
"Yeh scream for daddy."
" Jake you so silly. . . .So where we going to eat at?" I asked as I put my shoes back on. He didn't answer. Then it hit me. I had just called Corey Jake. Jake always referred to himself as daddy. I quickly looked up at Corey. He was looking at his hands and arms. He then looked into hiss rearview mirror, feeling and examining his face. Corey stepped out of the car and started checking his pants and chest and slowly got back into the car. His actions were confusing me. I didn't know if he was angry or playing.
"Corey I'm so. . . ."
" Motha-fucker I know you ain't just call me another nigga name and I know for sure I'm still Corey. I really been here being the perfect gentleman, treating you, taking you out for your birthday and this how you do." he yelled. He was serious. He was dead serious. I didn't know what to say. I didn't know how to explain calling him Jake. Corey started laughing as he started up the car and drove off. I sat there quiet as he continued to randomly laugh out loud and mumble to himself. I didn't care. I was too embarrassed to say anything.
" Motha-fuckers out having a good time with one dude while thinking about another. . . . ain't that a bitch." he said out loud. I still said nothing. I decided to remain quiet. Corey grabbed his phone and started looking through it, still randomly laughing. He plugged his phone up to the auxiliary cord and turned the car radio on.
" I got something for you Nelly. The perfect song for your ungrateful ass." he said as he leaned back in his seat. The beat came on and I turned quickly towards him. I reached to grab his phone but he jerked it away.
He leaned over, turning the music up as I wrestled to get his phone. He was too strong and way too fast." When a rich nigga want ya. And yo nigga can't do nothing for ya. Aahhhhh THESE HOES AIN'T LOYAL!!" yelled Corey over the already banging music as continued to fight for his phone.
"Motha-fuckers ain't loyal!!" he continued to yell. I reached down and turned the radio off.
"I was an accident Corey I told you I was sorry. If you gone be that childish and petty you can take me home." His laugh quickly turned into a anger.
"Oh that's exactly where I'm headed. You getting the hell up out of here. I can't believe you Natalie. If you want ole' boy that bad you need to call him and stop playing round with me."
I sat back in my seat, looking out the window as we rode back to my house in complete silence. As we came up to a stop sign on the corner of my house, I quickly gathered my things.
" Call me when you get over him." said Corey as I opened the car door and walked towards the house. As Corey sped off, I sat there on the porch in a rocking chair, ready to kick my own ass. I let my feelings mess up a perfectly good things. I was pissed. Just then Jake drove around the corner, creeping in his mother's car. I didn't have a kiss to blow at him that day. I was so mad at myself that I shot the "fuck you" finger at him. He then rolled the window down.
"Happy Birthday Nelly" he said laughing. I was so mad I said nothing. Just continued to rock back and forward in the rocking chair.
That's just how my life seems to go. I was so up and down that it was starting to feel normal. But that was just me. . . .a rocking chair. . . .Mrs. Back and Forward. . . .
