" Porsha are you sure you're ok?" I asked. She was taking down shots like a fish in water.
"Girl yes!" she yelled over the music. "Nelly I'm just glad I get to spend time with you. We haven't had a day out since we got out."
" I know right. And you been in the house being a mom. Cheers to the weekend friend" I said, holding up a shot glass and quickly drinking it down. We sat at the bar for a while, chatting with familiar faces and rocking to the music. Porsha was right. We needed our hang out time. I was always with Kaykay but never really with Porsha, atleast not without kids around.
" Nelly isn't it?" said another familiar face from behind the bar.
" Yeh this is me. You're Chris right?"
"Uh huh. Looking good girl!" he said with a smile. I knew I was. I had to get extra spiffy that night. With not talking to Jake and Corey turning out to be one of Shawna's goons, I needed a new boo. Wearing my hair in a middle part long ponytail, a black crop top, and black and white pencil skirt, I was sure to find someone. . . . .maybe.
" So why you did my boy like that Nelly?"
" Cause your boy ain't shit. He tryna get me killed or something."
" He told me about all that. Corey is not that type of dude. Trust me. He wouldn't do anything that would send him back to prison. Shawna is a whole different type of person than him." he said pooring himself a drink. " Corey wasn't tryna get you killed. He had planned a spa night for you for your birthday. I was suppose to come over and set up a lil bar and bring my girl with me. She's a massage therapist. Hell we ain't even get paid that night cause of you. You owe girl. And you better text me boy tonight. And tell Kayla she ain't shit" he laughed, pooring us a glass of wine. It felt as if I had two tons of watermelons lifted off my shoulders. I was smiling from ear to ear. That only lasted a little minute. Porsha was now headed to the dance floor.
" Bitch that's my song!" she said as Neyo "One in a Million" played in the background. I was now ready to go home. The fun night for her was ending. I grabbed her arm and we danced all the way to the door. By this time, Porsha was officially drunk.
" Hello, hey Damien this is Nelly."
"Whats up fam. Everything ok?"
" Yep I'm about to head your way with Porsha. She has had a little too much to drink." I laughed. He laughed and told me he would be waiting. As I drove, Porsha talked my ears off. But I wasn't paying her any attention. All I could think about was Corey. I had to text him
Me: Hey. . .Are you up?
I told myself that I wasn't going to sleep until he replied back.
"Nelly I'm sorry. I'm not a good person. I'm a bad friend Nelly. I really hurt you." Porsha said, words slurring and teary eyed.
" No you're a great friend to me. Yo ass just can't hold liquor." I laughed. She was a mess. Hair all sweaty and make-up smeared. She was wasted.
"No no no Nelly. I'm a horrible person. I made a deal with Shawna right before I started talking to you in prison. Shawna put me up to it. Our friendship was planned." she said slumped over in the passenger seat, crying crocodile tears. I took the first exit I saw, and pulled into a empty Picadilly's parking lot.
"What are you talking about Porsha?"
"Shawna wants me to bring you to the bar this Saturday and her folks was gonna drug you and Jake and beat yall. They planned to leave yall in the back alley with 30 pounds of weed and a bag full of bricks. She wanted both of yall in jail. You back in there with her so she can have her way with you. Shawna jealous of you and Jake. She want to hurt you bad. And I'm in on the plan. I love you Nelly. Im a bad friend." Porsha's drunk ass cried. I sat there in shock. Tears forming amd running down my face, mascara bleeding across my skin, anger raging from the inside.
"You BITCH!" I yelled, grabbing hold to her long curly hair and smashing her head against the window. As I continued the beating, I could feel Porsha's blood running onto my hands. She screamed as her head hit the glass, shattering my car window. I paused. Blood burning through my veins, heart beating fast. I looked over at Porsha who was dazed and dripping blood. Head leaking. Right eye swollen shut. I began to cry unbearably.
" I should've expected this from a bitch like you." I yelled. " A heartless, miserable bitch who don't know anything about love and how to be trusted." Porsha was leaned over, head hanging just outside the broken window. My first mind said to leave her in the parking lot. But I couldn't do it. I didn't want that on my conscious.
I drove her to Damien's house, rung the doorbell, and left her lying on the steps speeding off. Damien was calling me back to back, but I didn't answer. I was too disgusted with Porsha.
I cried my heart out, driving all over Atlanta. I didn't have anyone talk to. Me and Jake were practically done. Kaykay didn't answer my call. Grandma would flip out. I had no one.
Corey: Glad you text. We need to talk.
I couldn't help it. I drove to Corey's house, speedy through the Atlanta streets. I pulled up to Corey house and before I could ring the doorbell, he opened the door. I stared at him, hurt and pain swollen eyes signaling to him that something was wrong. He grabbed my hand and I fell into him arm. We walked up the stairs and to his bed, me still crying up a storm. He never asked me what was wrong. He continued to kiss me on the forehead and held me tight. It felt good to be with him again. The aroma of his cologne comforted my pain. But I felt much better knowing I was in the arms of someone who wasn't out to get me. . . . .
