School is Hell

When we finally walk the 10 blocks it takes to get to school, we split up and head for class. Me and Pony are both in History and Chemistry together but that's it. I think Abby and Two-Bit have a few classes together too. In the hallway I run into Cherry who frowns at me. "Don't think I didn't know you were the one in my pool," she says. I smile and walk past her to Math.

I meet Pony in between classes and we just talk and maybe kiss a few times. I told him about the Cherry thing and he just frowned. "Were not reay friends anymore," he tells me, about Cherry. I give him a questioning look, so he grabs my face and plants a kiss on my lips. Let's just say we were late for our next class.

Next after P.E, ewww, Lit and English, I have Health with a greaser girl I met. "Hey Maribeth," she says, as I sit down next to her. "Hey Anna," I say, smiling at her. "I heard Abby got jumped last night," she says. I nod. Anna has family problems just like all greasers do. She lives with her older sister who only cares about dating and doesn't give a crap about Anna at all. "How's life with the boys?" She asks. "It's going good. Darry's being more protective then normal," I tell her. She nods. "I need some extra cash for the house bills, do you know anywhere I could work?," Anna asks me. I think about it for a bit. Then I remembered Soda sayong something about needing help at the DX. "How about the DX? You have to be 16, but since you are, you should apply," I tell her before the teacher comes in. She smiles at me happily and whispers," I think that'll be perfect, I love the DX."

For lunch, we sometimes go to the DX to meet Steve and Soda. I ask them about Anna working there and they said it would be great. Soda thinks Anna's a nice girl. He met her a couple weeks ago when I invited her to dinner. I don't think she's met Steve yet though. Pony and Darry like her too. "We needed a girl anyway, to work the cash register," Steve says from under a car. We hang out there for awhile and eat the lunch Soda made for us. When were at the front of the school, a mustang stops in front of us. "We got trouble guys," Two-Bit says, flipping out his switchblade. Two Socs get out of the car and walk over to us. They walk over to me and Abby and wink at us. "Get lost," Two-Bit says, moving in front of me and Abby. The two guys turn around and walk inside the school. Pony let's out a deep breathe and puts his blade back in his pocket. I look at Abby and she gives me a half smile. We're not even protected at school. We walk into the school building. "We're late," I say when I see the hallway cleared. "Bye," we say to eachother heading for our classes. Darry would be mad if he found out we were late for class. Pony and I had History next so we snuck into the class. Luckily Mrs. Williams doesn't take attendance. The Soc boys that made us late, stare at us. I scoot my chair closer to Pony's.
