After I got dressed, Steve and Soda went to work and Darry took the day off to stay home with me and Pony. "Y'all can go to school on Monday," Darry says to us once everyone leaves. Me and Pony groan. Darry frowns, then lectures us about grades and scholarships. I half listen and half stare at Pony, just thinking about our future. Pony looks at me and smiles, obviously not listening either. I mean in to kiss him, then hear a cough. "Ponyboy ," Darry frowns. Me and Pony blush. I forgot Darry was here. "Y'all need to stop doing this so much," Darry says, motioning with his hands. "Kissing," Pony asks, raising an eyebrow. Darry nods. "Y'all are only 15 years old to young to be kissing so much." "I don't understand, Sods does it all the time with girls he brings-" Darry interrupts him. "Soda's way older and even he shouldn't be doing that. And plus he's more mature, he knows when to stop-" . I knew where thus was going, so I threw the blanket over my face and block out his voice. These kind of talks make me nervous especially when it's coming from Darry. The blanket is ripped off of me and Darry gives me a serious look. "And you can't lead him on-" he says before I yell his name. "Darry!," I scream as loud as I can and cover my ears. "Maribeth," he tells back, but laughs. I shake my head at him. "Can we stop talking about this," I ask him, pleading. He laughs then we both look over at Pony who is as red as a tomato. I lean over and kiss Pony on the cheek. "Maribeth! What did we just talk about," Darry asks me, crossing his arms. "Sorry," I mumble, smiling innocently.
