"Michael."

"Jason."

"Michael."

"Jason!"The short brunette boy shouted back to his friend who sat across from him in the basement of his house.

"Dude, Michael would so win in a fight. He's already died like a million times, so obviously he cant be killed, and he chases you with a knife. Everyone knows that, Trevor."

Trevor Matthew sighed, rolling his eyes at his friend, Kyle Youngs' lame excuse for a winning point. "True, but Jason has also died many-a-time, and to his advantage, carries a machete, which is bigger than your average knife."

"Are you two arguing again?" A feminine voice called from the top of the stairs. "Permission to enter?"

"Only if you agree to go to prom with me!" Kyle called back, straining his neck to see Trevors' sisters reply.

"In your dreams." She flounced down the stairs quickly, her black and red checkered stockings covering everything the purple mini skirt didn't. Her jet black hair  hung just at her shoulders, not long enough to hide the black tank top. She toyed with the vampire lips neckace that hung in the middle of her chest as she watched the boys for a moment. "Dont tell me this is another pointless argument about fictional characters."

"What do you want, Scarlet?" Trevor sighed, running a hand over his face.

"Just bored." She replied, nonchalantly, as she lifted the movie 'Halloween' off of the cluttered coffee table in front of the couch. She smirked and approached the television slowly, reading the back as she did so, even though she had already memorized it quite some time ago. "You guys doing anything important? Wait, let me guess, just another Halloween night in which you two idiots sit down in your  bat cave and argue about villains. Am i right?"

"Im going to tell mom. I swear to God im going to tell mom as soon as her and dad get home from that party." Trevor exclaimed. "She said you cant come down here and make fun of me."

"Well, since im babysitting you i should at least be somewhat near you." She replied, shrugging her shoulder.

"You're not babysitting us! We are fifteen years old." Kyle joined in with his friends glare.

"Yeah? Well, im seventeen and that makes me in charge." Scarlet took the DVD out of its case and popped it into the DVD player. "My first official declaration is we have a Halloween marathon."

"You cant watch the movie 'Halloween' on Halloween, youll jinx yourself." Trevor crossed his arms over his Iron Man T-shirt.

"What do you thinks going to happen? Michael Myers 'gonna come get me? Ooh im so scared!" Scarlet waggled her fingers at the boys and plopped down on the floor with her back against bottom of the couch. "Just press play."The boys exchanged a glance before giving in to her request, and playing the movie.

Halfway through the film Kyle pressed the pause button and rose to his feet. "Im going to turn the light off."

"What?" Trevor frowned. "But the suns going down." He pointed to the small window near the ceiling, showing them that the street lights had just come on.

"Even better." Scarlet smiled and tossed a wink to her brothers best friend. "Relax Trev, nothings going to happen."

"You know, they say that Michael Myers was a real person and a few of his descendants live here, in Burkwood."

Scarlet stared at Kyle for a moment in silence, her eyebrows almost reaching her hair line. "No they dont." He just shrugged. "We've lived here since we were seven and i have never heard that."

"Doesnt mean its not true." He replied, reaching for the remote.

"Doesnt mean it is." Trevor shot back, snatching the remote from his friend. "Oh no, i want to hear this story before we finish the movie."

"Alright." Kyle nodded, adjusting his position so that he was facing both of them. "A couple Halloweens ago a few kids decided to go trick-or-treating in the fancy part of town, despite their parents wishes. They took a short cut through the woods, on the 'Wicker' trail, and got turned around. They walked around for hours before finally spotting a little cabin."

"Overjoyed, they rushed up to it, completely disregarding everything they had been taught about not talking to strangers. An old woman came to the door and invited them inside. They obliged, thinking she was just a harmless, kind soul who wanted to help, but boy were they wrong."

"This sounds like Hansel and Gretel." Scarlet laughed, nudging her brother.

"Can i finish my story, please?" He waited for the two to nod before continuing. " Once inside they discovered that she was not alone. A tall man resembling something like a lumber jack told them that he was Michael Myers cousin, and that he swore to in stow revenge on the people that took him as a fictional character."

"So, he killed them, the kids, i mean?" Trevor frowned as Kyle nodded. "Okay, so then how do you know thats why if they died?"

"What do you mean?" Trevor asked, standing up and walking over to the window, standing just below it so his frame was bathed in the light of the silver and white moon.

"Well, no one was there so no one really knows what happened." Scarlet exclaimed, leaning back on the couch and feeling for the remote, having to use the glowing television screen and the little shine from the moon as her only source of light.

"Unless, someone does."

"Thats impossible." Trevor shrugged. "Besides, its just a story anyway, its not like it matters."

Kyle laughed, startling both Scarlet and Trevor. "You see, that's the kind of ignorance that got us killed."

"Did- did you just say 'us'?" Scarlet stuttered, scooting closer to her brother.

Kyle shook his head hard, still having yet to turn around and face his friends. "It matters." He mumbled. "I matter. We matter. It.Matters!"

"Kyle, you're scaring me." Trevor lowered his voice as Kyle began to turn around.

Ever so slowly, the once calm boy angled his body to face his friends. His once brown eyes had turned a deep red color and his fair skin was now a bluish grey. His hair hung limply across his sliced forehead, and blood dripped down his face and gushed from his neck. "It matters, because it happened. Its real, all of it is real. I was there. I was the one who got us lost because i thought it was just a story too. I thought the story was stupid and was just made up by our parents so we would listen to them, but i was wrong. I was the example of my generation of  non-believers, " He paused to pull a large bloodied butcher knife from behind his back. " And now you get to have the honor of being the example for yours." He raised the knife high above his head and smiled a sickly smile as Trevor and Scarlet leaped from the couch and began to run. "Happy Halloween!"
