It's been a while...
It's been a while since I've looked into her bright green eyes. To say I missed her would be an understatement, she wasn't just my sister after all, she was my best friend.
We were practically inseparable, the two of us. We did everything together- had long talks, covered for each other in tough situations, she would even lay with me every night until I fell asleep so all the yelling wouldn't scare me. We were the perfect sisters.
Our family however was not so perfect. Our father was a horrendous human being, screaming at our mother for all hours of the night if his clothes weren't folded the way he wanted when he got home. Her swollen eyes and bruised cheeks told us everything she wouldn't say, but she always defended him when my sister spoke up. She was the brave one.
My father didn't like her very much, my sister. He tried to hit her once when she defended mamma, but mamma took her place so she wouldn't have to go through that. I was the coward, never saying a word.
I knew it was only a matter of time before he went too far and hurt her, and I was right. It's been three months since he killed my sister, three months since her funeral, three months since I've seen those bright green eyes.
She still lays with me every night until I fall asleep, but her eyes aren't green anymore, in fact, they aren't there at all. Two empty, black holes are the last things I see before drifting off to sleep.
