After Regina finally let go of Robin, Robin held his hand out for Regina to hold onto so she could get up. Once she was up, they both grabbed their bows and some arrows and Robin found a good sized tree. He got out his knife and started cutting rings into the bark. It took him only a few minutes until he was done. He looked at Regina and motioned toward the tree. "Ladies first."
Regina gave him a smirk. She didn't want to go first because she wanted to see what she was going up against. "No, I insist, you go first. I don't want to go first."
"If that's what you want, m'lady!" He stepped back quite a ways from the tree. He picked up one of his arrows and clipped it on the bow's string. He pulled back the string as Regina stared at his muscular biceps. She just wanted to walk up and touch it to see how hard it was. She knew now why she always felt so safe in his arms. She felt like he would protect her. He let the arrow find the target, and the arrow ended up hitting the ring right outside of the middle where he was trying to hit. "Try to beat that!"
Regina laughed within herself because she knew she could beat that. "I'll try, but that's a pretty hard shot to beat!" Regina picked up an arrow and clipped it on her bow. She pulled back her string and looked at Robin. She winked at him like she was playing around with him. She looked back at the target and let the arrow go. It landed right in the center. Regina smiled widely. She looked over at Robin and he had his mouth open. He was utterly amazed!
"How, how did you do that? That must have been just a lucky shot!"
"So just because I'm a woman you think that I'm not supposed to be as good as you! You don't even know how I learned how to shoot a bow!" she laughed. He still had his mouth opened.
"It's not that m'lady, it's just that I shot a bow every day before I became king and I have to take a few practice shots before I can even hit the center! Could you shoot it again?" Regina started laughing.
"Of course I can!" Regina got another arrow and clipped it on the string. She looked at the center of the target and took a deep breath. She let the arrow fly and it split the first arrow that was already in the center of the target. Regina giggled because she was so excited that she could finally show someone else her skill and they be this amazed, for Robin looked more shocked than the first time she shot the bow.
"Wow, m'lady! You really do have a good shot! I'm curious as to how you became this good! How about we do like you suggested and we share how we started shooting?"
"That's a great idea! I'll go first if you want!"
"I don't mind who goes first. I just really want to know as much about you as I can know."
"Oh Robin!" She walked over to Robin and gave him a light kiss on the lips. She laced her fingers with his and they walked back to where they had their picnic set up. They sat on the blanket and Regina cuddled up next to Robin.
"Still want to go first, m'lady?"
"Yep! Well, you already know that when I ran away from Mother I realized I had to become a thief. So, one day I was going through the market and I was starving. I hadn't stolen anything in a while and I was hungry. I didn't have any money or any weapons to kill animals with. I figured I would have to steal something from the market. I don't quite like stealing from the market, though, because most of them don't have very good lives because of having to pay high taxes and they are constantly in fear of their lives." Regina then realized what she had said. "Robin, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to hurt your feelings or anything. It just came out! Please don't get upset or mad!"
"Regina! It's okay! I know that I used to be evil and I know that I caused a lot of pain. I feel guilty about doing all of that stuff now because of you! You have made me a different man because you believed I could change! I already told you this and I told you that I admitted to once being very evil. I'm not mad or upset because you brought it up. Apparently it has something to do with your story so just proceed!" he said with a smile. He leaned down and kissed the top of her head.
