"Well? Did you get that memory back?" Robin looked at Regina with a pleading look. He knew that the last memory of them wasn't the best, but at least it was something.
"I remember, but why were you ignoring me?" Robin dropped his head and starting sobbing.
"You and I had just got back from our picnic that we had. You suggested that we go to the kitchen to make our own lunch. On our way, we ran into your mother. She tried to take you from me to probably beat you but I didn't let her. I told her that if she didn't let you go I wasn't going to allow her to come to our wedding and I would send her home. She let you go and you ran back into my arms. When she left us, I was still angry that she had told me that I was foolish for wanting to fix my own lunch. You tried to get my attention and I snapped at you. Then you told me to calm down and that it was just you. I looked into your beautiful eyes and I realized that I could have hurt you. I walked toward the stairs while you were trying to tell me that it was okay and that you would help me calm down. I ignored you because I thought you were just pitying me. You ran up the stairs after me, but you slipped and hit your head on the bottom step. I couldn't catch you and I'm sorry!"
"Picnic? We went on a picnic together?"
"Yes! You had a dream about it and I wanted to make it come true. We ate some food, shot our bows, looked up at the stars, and then we went home." Robin smiled remembering his date with his fiance. "I even gave you a surprise on a tree. Here, I'll show you! Follow me!" Robin held out his hand for Regina to take but then realized that she may not feel comfortable doing so. "Oh, um, sorry m'lady." He put his hand by his side again with a sad look on his face. Regina could tell that he was telling the truth about everything. She didn't like him looking sad, though. She reach out her hand and touched his. Robin jumped, for he wasn't expecting her to touch his hand.
"No, I'll hold your hand!" Regina smiled showing her bright teeth. He loved it when she smiled. It was the most beautiful smile he had ever seen.
"You don't have to, Regina. I understand."
"No, I want to." Regina laced her fingers with Robin. Robin looked at their hands laced together. He tightened his grip on her hand. Robin opened the door and started walking in the direction of their picnic sight. He was going to show her the tree with the target and the heart with their names on it. He wanted to prove to her that he really did love her. They got to the clearing where they had their picnic at and Robin stopped walking.
"This is where we had a picnic only about two days ago." He walked to where he had the blanket set up for their picnic and sat down on the grass. "You sat here in my lap after we looked up at the stars." Robin smiled but then got back up. "Follow me." Robin walked through the forest and found the tree. "Do you see the target?"
"Yes! Is that what we shot at with our bows?"
"Yeah it is, but that isn't exactly what I wanted to show you. Look below the target." Regina took her eyes down the trunk of the tree and saw a heart. Inside the heart, Regina saw R+R.
"Robin plus Regina?" Robin nodded his head.
"Yeah. I wanted everyone who saw this tree to know that I loved you and always will." Regina blushed. She just wished she could remember him. He obviously loved her. She let a tear fall down her cheek. "What's the matter my lady?" Robin walked over to Regina and embraced her in a hug.
"I wish I can remember you." Robin thought for a second. The Dark One said that all her memories will be returned when we shared a kiss of true love. I need to figure out how to make her fall in love with me again.
"How about we have a picnic again? Maybe you can remember if we play it over again."
"Maybe so!"
"Come on, let's go back to your house and get some lunch ready to put in a basket." They walked back to Regina's home and made sandwiches to put in the basket. Robin thought about what they had done at their last picnic. He thought about them shooting their bows. "M'lady, would you like to shoot our bows again at our picnic?"
"That sounds fun! I love shooting!" Regina was smiling from ear to ear. Robin looked down at his feet and smiled. He whispered something that he thought she wouldn't hear.
"Yes, I know." Regina did hear him, but she didn't say anything. She just wanted to remember what they had before. They packed everything into the big basket and headed back to their spot. Robin sat the basket down and got out the red checkered blanket. He held his hand out for Regina to take and they both sat down. Robin didn't sit as close as he usually did to her, but in all reality he really wanted to.
Regina looked over at Robin. He didn't know that the look on his face hinted that he was sad, but Regina could tell. I wonder what we usually did? He didn't look like this a few seconds ago when we were holding hands. Oh! That's it! We must always sit close. Regina pushed herself closer to Robin and laid her head on her shoulders. "I can't remember much about us, but I'll bet we didn't sit that far away from each other. Thank you for not trying to push me into trying to love you again. Judging by your acts, you really do love me, a lot. You know, I kind of like having your shoulder to lay on." She picked her head back up and slid a little closer to him.
Robin couldn't believe what he was seeing. Although, he did love it, he was just so shocked that she was this close to him. He pulled out the sandwiches and they ate in silence.
