Friday

"Sam, time to wake up!" Mom hollered.

"I'm up. I'm up." I said quickly sitting up.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"9:30. Harry will be here in a half hour."

"Okay." I said getting out of bed. I got a pair of jean shorts and an old soccer t-shirt that has my last name and jersey number on the back. I finished getting ready then went to get something to eat in the kitchen. I just finished eating when I heard my dog, Lou barking which meant Harry was here. I went out to meet him.

"Good morning." I said standing on the sidewalk.

"Good morning." He replied walking over to me.

"How are you feeling?" I asked.

"Much better." He replied.

"Good. Well it's freaking hot out here let's go inside. Did you have breakfast?" I asked.

"Yeah, I had it at the hotel."

"Any good?" I asked opening the door.

"Yeah, it was good." Harry said stepping in the house.

"Good morning, Harry. How are you feeling?" Mom asked.

"Good morning. I'm much better, thank you."

"Good-" Then her work phone started ringing.

"If you guys need me I'll be in my office."

"Okay." She went to go answer her phone. I went in the living room with Harry.

"Mi casa su casa." I said sitting on the couch. Harry sat down next to me leaving about a foot of space between us.

"Gracias." He replied.

"De nada."

"You know Spanish?" He asked.

"A little bit."

"How's the Italian coming?"

"Sta andando molto bene, grazie per avermelo chiesto."I replied.

"What does that mean?" He asked.

"It is going very well, thank you for asking."

"What language are you taking next?"

"French"

"French...Vous prenez français. Le langage de l'amour."

"What did you say?"

"You're taking French. The language of love." He answered.

"Oh. Yeah."

"How did your exams go?" He asked.

"They went okay. Some of the stuff I haven't even learned before but it was alright."

"How do you think you did?" He asked.

"I think I failed them all."

"I bet you didn't." He reassured me.

"Thanks for the confidence but I really don't think I did."

"You may surprise yourself. I bet you passed."

"Thanks." He began telling me about the GCSEs, which are these really important exams taken at the end of 11th grade in the UK.

"Anyway when does soccer start?"

"Practices start at the end of August then games start after Labor Day."

"You'll have to let me know when your games are."
