luke was waiting right outside the front of the school when lunch time came around. he was feeling a little bit anxious about eating with anna and her friends again because:

1. kimberly hates him and left him with multiple bruises on his right arm

2. malina hates him and kicked him in his dick

3. brianna hates him and pimp slapped him

4. anna may or may not like him

michael said that he would invite the rest of the girls and ashton too. michael obviously knew luke was still a little bitch on the inside, no matter how hard luke tried to cover it up, ashton and michael both knew luke way too well.

after two minutes, luke heard anna's laugh and the others come out of the school building. they were all laughing at what seemed like a poorly told joke by michael. once the three other girls looked up and saw luke they went silent. they were all quiet and just stared at luke and luke arched an eyebrow and stared back.

"take a picture, it'll last longer." luke said.

kimberly huffed and started charging after him, "i swear to god hemm-" michael and anna held her back and anna slapped her hand over kimberly's mouth before she could say anything else.

"remember what i talked about kim." she whispered into kimberly's ear. kimberly took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. the girls all had a talk about being "mature" and just "suck it up" for today and see how this will go before they decided on going to lunch with luke.

before anyone can say anything else, ashton pulled up the curb and stopped immediately and caused a loud screeching noise. he rolled down the windows and fall out boy was playing loudly out of his car, ashton had black sunglasses on and giggled at everyone's pissed off faces.

"come on trouble makers, i want some tea!" he yelled.

they all piled into ashton's range rover and he pulled out of the school's parking lot with out hesitation. the car ride was silent except for ashton's cd playing quietly through out the car.

brianna sat in the front passenger seat, kimberly, michael and malina sat in the middle row of seats, and luke and anna sat in the very back.

luke twiddled around with his thumbs and kept taking deep breaths. no one seemed to notice because they were all in their own little worlds but anna. she quietly laughed at his nervousness and he noticed. he locked eyes with her and blushed while he looked away.

anna shook her head while smiling and looked out the window. it wasn't long until they arrived to panera bread.

all of them finally got their food and decided to sit in a booth by the window.

"so anyways, evan's party. you guys all down?" ashton asked.

almost everyone nodded except anna.

"come on anna! you have to come, it's gonna be big babe." malina said while nudging her arm towards anna.

anna shook her head, "i don't know guys." she played around with her food trying to avoid eye contact with everyone.

"anna i think you should come honestly. i think it'll be a pretty fun time, plus evan has like a really big mansion." luke added.

everyone all chimed in on trying to make anna agree to going to the party. no matter how much the girls hated luke, they still teamed up to make anna come to this party. anna really wanted to go, but she was kind of afraid if she'll get drugged. evan's party is full of drugs and he always lets his guest bring all types of pills, but she was getting sick of her friends yelling at her to come.

"i'll drag you if i have to!"

"it won't be fun without you!"

"who's going to be the designated driver!?"

"come on dude!"

"anna serio-"

"alright!" she cut them off, "i'll go to the party if you guys shut the hell up and eat your food." anna spat.

everybody was caught of guard but looked down at their plates and ate silently. anna smiled triumphantly and sipped her tea.

they finished up their lunch in small talk and michael ended up spilling water all over ashton. they walked out the cafe and once they stepped out michael and ashton started bickering.

"michael you prick!" ashton whined.

"i'm sorry man!" michael smacked his hands over his face.

luke and anna were waiting for everyone to get into the car before they did because they were nice enough to let their friends go first.

once anna stepped one foot into the car, luke grabbed her wrist and pulled her back out and shut the car door.

"luke what the hell," anna said but luke held his hand up to her mouth so the last few words were muffled.

"just be quiet, okay?" he asked. anna angrily agreed.

luke walked to the passenger window and once brianna noticed him she rolled it down.

she smiled innocently, "luke, sweety," she cooed, "give anna back before i shove that rock over there up your ass. okay?" she continued on grinning.

luke rolled his eyes, "i'm not going to rape her brianna." he leaned into the window and brianna pushed her back up against the seat like he was some sort of animal that she didn't want to get touched by.

"just go ahead on with out us, we'll walk back together." luke told ashton.

ashton peered his head over luke and saw anna pouting right behind him. ashton giggled at her expression, she may or may not have mouthed the words 'help me'.

he winked at her and shouted, "have fun kids!" and sped off. anna huffed and glared at luke when he turned back around.

"alright hemmings, what do you want?" she said in a bored tone.

he rolled his eyes because she could be such a downer. luke held his hand out for her to take and she eyed it and arched an eyebrow.

he sighed, "come on."

she groaned and harshly grabbed his hand and he had to fight back a smile. luke pulled her along the sidewalk, walking hand in hand and softly humming a song. the silence lasted for quite awhile and anna seemed to just go with the flow. she was in a happier mood than she was before. she didn't know whether it was his touch or if it was just a mood swing. what she does know is that once their hands collided, she felt a spark and it caused a shiver to roll down her back.

after about walking a fourth of a mile, anna gave up and let go of his hand. luke frowned at the loss of touch.

"where are we going, luke?" she asked softly, which surprised him. he was expecting her to snap at him or something.

"where ever the sidewalk takes us," he shrugged.

anna laughed dryly, "wait, so you mean we're just walking no where?"

he nodded, "that is correct, my love." luke smiled cheekily, but he just told a complete lie.

she scoffed but her lips tugged upwards, "luke hemmings, you are a handful."

he laced their fingers together, "i know."
