Rachel’s POV
Packing was so stressful, especially remembering not to forget anything. Part of the reason its hard, is because I don’t want to move. I don’t see why I have to, I’m practically an adult. But no, my parents decided to ruin my life just when everything was finally perfect.
Suddenly, a rock hit my glass window, making a noticeable hole. I made my way to my balcony, to find my wonderful boyfriend, Jake. “You’re going to have to pay for that, ya know?” I shouted at the chuckling brunette below me. Quickly running downstairs, I tackled him to the soft ground. “Do you really have to go, babe?” he asked with his innocent hazel eyes taunting me. “Yeah, I’m almost done packing.” I sighed. He rolled over and started to sit up. I did the same, and we both just sat there, silent, just listening to the sound of the birds chirping. “What about prom? We were suppose to go together!” he reasoned, finally breaking the silence. I didn’t know how to answer him, we both have been looking forward to prom, to senior year since we were in 6th grade. “I don’t know, Jake. I didn’t expect this, I don’t want to go, I don’t want to leave you or the others behind.” Hot tears started to stream down my cheeks. All Jake did was watch, not even comfort me. “…But we can still work this out…” I started to sob. “Rae, you know long-distance relationships never last. Maybe, we should…” he didn’t finish his sentence, but I knew what he was trying to express. I watched him get up, his legs trembling. He started to turn the corner, when he stopped himself. “We have been best friends since birth, and I was never the one to tell you the truth.” he almost whispered. “What truth?” I asked, flustered. He didn’t move, he stood there kicking the dirt. “Just promise me you won’t stop singing, you won’t stop playing that guitar.” he turned to me, his eyes filled with water. “But, why?” I sobbed harder, but that was it. He left without another word, with no answer. And before I knew it, I was alone, truly and utterly alone.
