"--listening to me?" Josh furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, staring across the table at his spaced out friend.
"Huh?" Tyler muttered, completely confused. He was snapped back into reality by a familiar voice he knew all too well. He looked back at Josh, who was expecting a reply from him. Tyler chuckles nervously. "S-Sorry, I got a bit distracted. Can you please repeat what you said? I'll listen this time."
Josh rolled his eyes and sighed, shaking his head. "Yeah, I noticed. I've been basically talking to myself for a whole ten minutes because I noticed all too late that you were completely spaced out, thinking of who-knows what," he rambled. Tyler frowned deeply, and sighed. "I'm sorry...I just--I'm sorry."
Tyler clearly didn't have an excuse for spacing off like that with his best friend. Well, he did have one, but it wasn't appropriate to use, and it would be completely wrong to say it.
Josh just shook his head and sighed again. "Whatever, it's okay. Let's just head back to the venue," he grumbled, getting up from his seat and walking to the nearest trashcan to throw away his coffee. "J-Josh--," Tyler couldn't even finish his sentence, because Josh had already left the Starbucks without a second glance at Tyler. Without much choice, Tyler got up and did the same.
He hated making Josh angry. He hated seeing him irritated and annoyed. Tyler knew how much he's already ruined a bit of their friendship, and he tries his best to keep himself at bay. He tries his best not to fuck up and lose his only ray of light and hope.
Josh was already long gone, and now it was Tyler's turn to get to him.
It wasn't exactly Tyler's complete fault for spacing out. Josh made it really hard for him to keep an attention span. Tyler listened to Josh's ranting at first, but he soon tuned him out without even realizing. He got way too lost in his thoughts, fantasizing about things that'll never come true, but he wished they did.
He thought of how pretty Josh was. Yes, pretty. But there were so many other kind words that described him, and Tyler wished he was the one to tell him. He thought of how cute he is when he would wrinkle his nose and how his eyes crinkled when he laughed or smiled. He thought of how much he loved it when Josh got flustered easily, when Tyler would tease him endlessly.
They seemed more like a couple than best friends, to be honest. And a lot of their fans thought so too. Tyler wished they were that way. A couple instead of best friends.
But then the thought of his wife, Jenna, came along and practically ruined everything.
His life was honestly starting to seem like a drama more than anything now.
