Chapter Twenty-eight - Aaron
The minute Aaron noticed something was up with Henry, Aaron bombarded him with questions. Being best friends, they seemed to have a joint mind, always recognising the switch in moods. In retrospect, Aaron was exaggerating, for Henry hadn't known about Aaron dating Cat or his problem with Kyle; it was Henry's mood in the gym that had sparked a curiosity.
"The police came round the other night," Henry revealed, "they wanted me to ask whether you'd testify against Kyle or not."
Although it should have been a shock to him, Aaron had guessed that it would come at one stage. He was means to injure Lillian and Mr London (whose first name he still didn't know).
"I don't really have much of a choice," he shrugged, "do you think it will get him in jail though? I wouldn't have thought there's enough evidence."
From the corner of his eye, Aaron acknowledged Henry's flick of his tongue.
"You, Violet and Mum, I would think that's enough," he answered, adding, "Plus, they had to have found evidence for them to make a formal charge."
Aaron tilted his head in agreement. They seemed to have a fighting chance, which meant Kyle would be locked up for good. If that wasn't good for the Evans-Evangeline family, then Aaron didn't know what would.
"I need to take a shower before practice and you do too - we stink of sweat!" Henry announced as the two of them returned back from the gym.
Aaron chuckled, agreeing with the younger lad.
Usually, they were never big gym fanatics but with it being summer and Aaron having no girlfriend to spend it with, he needed to do something and it seemed like it would be exercising. He actually quite enjoyed it, although he had to admit that his muscles did hurt a little as he turned the wheel. It would be worse in the morning.
"We'll go back to mine and take a shower then," he replied.
"It will take longer to get to yours, just come back to mine," Henry argued, tapping his fingers against the dashboard as One Ok Rock blasted through the speakers. It was one of their song choices, so they never wasted a minute. Even at the gym, Aaron had a guitar cover of another of the songs to make sure he had the tune stuck in his brain. Quickly glancing towards Henry, Aaron made a face of uncertainty. "You can borrow some of my clothes, it's fine! You probably would have same the same."
It wasn't the clothes that Aaron had an issue with...
"My house is closer to Jesse's though."
Still, he found himself turning into Henry's familiar driveway. Aaron didn't realise it until Henry pointed it out. That was when the brown-haired boy clocked on.
"Look, she still loves you, you know? She hadn't left her bed for a good few weeks!" Henry tried to reassure him. Unfortunately, Aaron knew it wasn't the case. Maybe Cat hadn't told anyone, but Aaron knew she had moved on from him - he saw it himself. "You need to talk to her again."
Aaron didn't say anything. His plan had been to talk to Cat after serenading her.
"She needs some space," he told Henry, knowing much of a lie it really was. It was partially true, however, for Cat did need space from him, yet there was something darker hidden under the tight grip of the steering wheel.

With a summer breeze whistling through his hair, Aaron made his way towards Cat's house. He didn't drive, which was possibly a mistake since he had his guitar to carry on his back, alongside a nervous mind. The summer sun shone briefly through the clouds, lighting up everything that passed his way - the brick walls, even the pavement succumbed its usual grey bleakness for a lit one.
