Chapter Fifteen - Cat

"I hope this is the right place," Aaron chuckled, as he drove Cat to Rachel's house. The hint of anxiety still lingered in his voice from earlier in the night, like a trembling soul in the night.

There was no way Cat could make sure it was the same house, since she couldn't even see her surroundings but she chose to ring Rachel instead, just to confirm it. It seemed silly though, as she should have been able to recognise Rachel's house as she did her own.

"What's up, girlie?" She asked, picking up on the second ring. Music played in the background, strange for nearly one in the morning.

"Check if there's a car outside your house," Cat demanded, giving no reasons as to why. She hoped - no, she knew - Rachel would get the hint.

After a few seconds, she replied, "yup, right house."

Cat let out a sigh of relief, hanging up the phone before telling Aaron the good news. He also sighed, giving Cat another opportunity to giggle.

"I don't normally drive, okay?" Aaron said, jokingly, "it's Laura's car, she told me to borrow it for tonight."

"I can tell," Cat laughed. He seemed to be worse than Henry when driving, constantly braking a little harder just in case of an accident. That wasn't so much of a bad thing to Cat, except for the fact that she sometimes couldn't see the abrupt stop coming, causing her to jump forward a bit. "You brake too hard."

Suddenly, her laughter died down. In the back of her mind, she knew she should have been worried about it. Her hands even agreed as she gripped the arm of the seat multiple times during the journey home, her head bringing back unwanted memories.

"I'm sorry," he said, noticing her change.

"I trust you." Her lips curled into a smile, just as he took her hand in his. His fingertips grazed against her cold skin, stroking it softly to fill the silence. Cat enjoyed his touch, even if it was something quite so small as that - it reminded her that everything was real. The couple remained like that, listening to silence of skin grazing whilst Cat closed her eyelids. It was peaceful, until Aaron chose to speak up.

"I think I'd better take you inside before Rachel goes crazy."

He moved his hand away, getting out of the car to be a gentleman and help Cat out. For some reason, Cat didn't like it but she knew his intention by it, so she let it slide. Instead, she took his hand and stepped out carefully. Just as she was about to say goodbye, she realised something she had forgotten something.

"Thanks for tonight," she blurted, "I had fun."

Fun? That didn't seem like the right thing to say.

Cat mentally slapped her face in embarrassment. Luckily for her, Aaron agreed, murmuring something she couldn't hear. Saying her goodbyes, she walked down the path in the dark. In her head, she was worried that she said something wrong as he didn't reply.

Just as she got to the door, Aaron pulled her so that she faced him, placing his lips on hers again. One word was all that could describe it - fireworks. Explosions of colour sounded around the two of them with every movement they made. His hands were on her cheeks whilst she moved hers on his chest, resting them there as he pressed her against the door. Before anyone could interrupt them, Aaron pulled back, leaving his forehead touching hers, hands beside her face.

"Do you think that maybe we could do this again sometime?" He asked, rambling on a little.

"I sure hope so," was all Cat said, her voice breathless.
