Chapter Two - Aaron

His head rocked up and down, his arms smashing against his guitar that matched the beat of the drums in the back. The upbeat tune was so familiar to him that he didn't need to focus on it and with his hands fighting valiantly against his brain, he lost himself in the music. He probably looked like a lunatic, he thought, but he didn't care. The music was his pride and joy, something he had to be proud of.

Unfortunately, the only thing missing to the piece of music was in fact, a lead singer.

"Guys, come on." Henry, the ex-lead singer, spoke. He was sat at the table opposite the band, trying to focus on the papers he had in front of him. "I didn't come to get distracted by you guys again." The end of the pen touched his lip, as though he was thinking hard about something.

"Oh come on, Henry. We need you back in the band!" Mickey, a member of the band cried, slumping in the seat beside the dark haired boy. He snatched Henry's glasses of his face, putting them on his own as he pretended to imitate his friend.

"He's right. Without you, it's just Aaron's back up vocals." Jesse supported, throwing a can of coke towards Aaron, who, luckily, caught it, still with his guitar round him. "And we all know he sounds like a dying cat without a lead."

"Hey, watch the guitar!" He cried out, checking it for damages before realising what Jesse had just said. "And I have a wonderful singing voice. I just, don't sing as the lead. Not when my specialty is the guitar."

Aaron leaned his back against the cold wall, clicking the can open and taking a sip. He looked around at his band mates, so different yet so alike. There was Jesse, the brooding 'bad boy' that every girl swooned over, which Aaron really didn't seem to understand, Mickey was the goofy one who just messed around most of the time and then there was Henry, Aaron's friend from childhood. Henry was definitely the sensible one out of the four of them, yet he could be most craziest when he wanted to be. For example, him and Mickey were currently play fighting over a pair of glasses. Aaron wished he was like them, care free and stunningly attractive, something he would never admit to himself or to anyone else, yet no one seemed to like him much. Although he was the lead guitarist, girls never swooned for him as they did for Jesse, nor did they giggle at anything silly he did as they did for Micky and nor did they want to hug him as they did Henry. It wasn't unfair, it was just life.

"Seriously though, we need you." Aaron agreed, smirking. He was aware that Henry knew he was correct but Aaron was also aware that Henry didn't want to join in again.

"I told you, I'm done with music. I need to finish my A Levels and get into university." Henry replied, victoriously grabbing his glasses back from Mickey and sitting in his seat. His eyes travelled back to the papers sat in front of him and with a sigh, he threw one of his pens towards Aaron, who saw it just in time to dodge it. "Someone please just tell me why Heathcliff is mean to his daughter-in-law?! Something other than revenge on her dad!"

"Isn't it revenge on Cathy herself? For not choosing Heathcliff?" Jesse questioned. The two of then took English Literature together, as did Aaron. However, he also took English Language which the other two were much too lazy to do.

The two boys began to argue over it, as Mickey yawned. He didn't take English Literature but instead took the laid back subjects, as well as Chemistry in which he happened to excel in. If it wasn't for the band, he may have ended up as a doctor.

Jesse's garage was spacious, with grey grunged walls surrounding them. There were Christmas tree lights hanging from the roof, bright colours bouncing off the walls. The wall behind the instruments was full of graffiti, with 'The Moors' spray painted in big, bold letters. Jesse had his walls soundproofed for band practice, so his parents wouldn't keep yelling at him to turn the noise down and Aaron was grateful for that. If those walls weren't soundproof, he wouldn't be able to play as loud as he did. And if Henry and Jesse continued arguing much longer, the soundproof walls wouldn't stay soundproof.
