Chapter Five - Cat

The tension in the room could have been cut with a violin bow. As Aaron spoke about his mystery singer, Cat recognised the hurt in his voice. It was similar to how Henry would speak when he would go out of his way for her. That was why she tried not to tell him much about her problems, as she didn't want to hear that voice again.

"That's good then," Henry replied to them as Cat put a hand on his shoulder. Although she knew Aaron was the one who sounded hurt, Henry sounded just as hurt.

Boys just never admitted it, she noticed.

"Yeah, you need to tell us everything you know about her," Mickey said.

Cat felt the violent squish of the beanbag beside her as Mickey's voice neared her. Her body tensed at the sudden change, causing an apology from him. She smiled, unsure of what to say yet she was certain he would recognise her acceptance.

"Well, erm..." Aaron began, with a nervous chuckle in his voice. Before he could continue, a smash of guitars came from behind him and in return, the rest of the boys laughed, leaving Cat completely clueless as to what had happened.

"What happened?" Cat spoke up, furrowing her eyebrows.

She continued to hear the clattering guitars and keyboards, just over the sound of Mickey's donkey laugh. Henry was laughing too, yet his laugh was just loud like Jesse's. The only clear way to differentiate it was by the fact that Henry was sitting right beside her. She could make out attempts to speak inbetween the laughter. They were individual words explaining the entire situation: Aaron tripped.

Suddenly, she joined in with the laughing fest, letting her excessively loud laugh to take over as she bounced her head back against the sofa. Although she couldn't see it, she knew that Aaron was never the sort to fall into embarrassing situations.

"Hey! It's not funny!" He cried, from amongst the fallen guitars.

"Sure, buddy," A different voice - Jesse - spoke, continuing to chuckle.

As the practice continued, Aaron revealed information about his mystery singer, as everyone called her. He described her to be beautiful but it became clear to Cat that he hadn't even seen the girl singing, otherwise he would have been looking for her sooner. As he spoke, his voice changed. The usual anger and hatred he kept hidden in his voice was no longer Existent, replaced by softness and sweetness. Whoever the girl was seemed to keep in a better mood, making him more peaceful from the sound of it.

"I have one question," Henry said as he shuffled from his seat, "how are you going to find her?"

A cold emptiness lay beside Cat, making her aware of Henry's movement as the rest of the band were silent. She hadn't known where he moved to but she was worried. Her brother was able to mask his emotions easily in front of his band members, whilst with his own sister, that was impossible. She had to go after him.

"Leave him," Jesse spoke as she shuffled from her seat. He wasn't speaking to her though, as she realised when he continued. "Aaron, he needs some space."
