Twenty-One

"Arch, wake up!"

Arch jolted up from his desk and wiped the drool off his face.

"Lizzie?" He groaned.

"No, it me, Ellie."

Arch looked around him to realize he was in the mayor's office, and not in his bedroom. And when he saw Ellie and Emmer in the room, his back just stumped and he regained normality again.

"Right. What is it Ellie?"

"There's another visitor here to see you."

Arch groaned. The last visitor that had come to see him was Doug. And he told him all about how Damich had turned into a wolf and stole all the meds. Arch had told him he'll do something about it, but he never got to it. The story just sounded too ridiculous.

"Alright, let' em in." Arch said.

Ellie went to open the door and a blonde haired kid wearing a beanie walked in.

"Name and situation," Arch yawned, as if he's already gone through this so many times.

"It's Hugh,"

"Situation?"

"Well, I was walking by myself when I saw this mysterious post. It had a chopped off head on it. And as if that wasn't enough, I saw this wolf."

"Do you know the name of the wolf?" Emmer asked, seemingly interested.

"I don't know about that," Hugh said. "But I do know it was headed towards me. So I ran."

"It must've been Damich. Doug already said this." Emmer muttered.

"You're ridiculous," Ellie sneered. "You actually believe Damich turned into a wolf?"

Emmer shrugged. "Why not? There's a high chance that many of us could have been mutated. And I'm starting to think that this dead adults thing would somehow relate to the wolf."

Arch stood up from his desk.
"Shut up guys. Hugh, will you take me to the wolf?"

Hugh looked shocked and doubtful.
"I don't think I can. But I can show you where I last saw it."

"That'll do." Arch said.

Emmer passed by them and headed towards the door.

"Where are you going?" Arch asked.

"I got to check something." Emmer mumbled, awkwardly.

Ellie laughed. "Check for what? Mutants?"

Emmer ignored this and walked out the door.

Arch turned back to Hugh.
"Alright Hugh, lead the way."
