Chapter 17
Louis
There was a knock at the door only about ten minutes after I had let myself into my flat. Instinctively I knew exactly who it was and so it was no surprise when I opened the door that my four band mates spilled into my flat and collapsed around the lounge like they owned the place.
“Nice to see you guys too,” I said light-heartedly, I was in too good a mood after mine and Ronnie’s amazing date to care at how they had barged in.
“So…how did it go?” Liam asked, wiggling his eyebrows up and down in a suggestive manner. I frowned my own before falling next to Harry and shrugging.
“It was OK, I guess.”
“You guess? What, don’t you know?” Zayn said smiling, causing me to flip him the finger.
“Come on, I can see you’re holding out on us,” Harry said, poking me in the ribs to make me tell.
“Alright, it was amazing. She was amazing; I’ve never met anyone like her. How can someone be so different to how the media and everyone see her? It was like she was a completely other person,” I answered, my words pouring out before I could stop them. The guys all stared at me, trying to understand what I meant. I wasn’t even sure I knew what I meant.
“So it was good then, huh?” Niall asked after a moment silence, making me laugh.
“Yes, it was good.”
“I’m so pleased. It’s about time man!” Harry yelled, throwing his arm around my shoulder and hugging me roughly for a moment.
“What do you mean?” I asked curious, but he just looked away guiltily, very out of character for him. “Seriously, what do you mean?”
“All Harry meant was…that it has been a while since you were with someone. Since you even looked at someone…of the opposite sex,” Liam explained carefully, looking nervous of saying the wrong thing.
“I guess you’re right. But after Eleanor…it was kinda hard to, you know?” the guys all had sympathy echoing in their eyes, and normally it would have annoyed me, but they weren’t sympathetic for the Louis who was sitting in front of them right now, rather the Louis they had known was miserable over the past month.
“We get it man. We’re just happy you’re happy again,” Zayn said as he jumped from his seat and heading into the kitchen, returning with beers a few moments later. He passed one to Liam before chucking another to me. once we all had one, Harry raised his in toast.
“To Louis, for finally opening up and letting someone in. May she be worth it, and may you enjoy it,” he said, nodding his head in my direction as the others made sounds of agreement around me before taking a drink. I smiled slightly at Harry whilst I thought about his words.
Was I really starting to open up and feel again? Was I really ready to do that, especially after Eleanor? I wasn’t sure my heart could stand it, what if Veronica was not what I expected; different from whom I thought she was? What would I do then, I don’t know that I would be able to deal with it. I had only known this girl three days, which was barely any time, but I was considered all kinds of futures with her. Sometimes you just knew; you just felt that connection with someone.
“So…what did you crazy kids get up to today then?” Niall asked, coming to sit beside me whilst Liam turned the Xbox on, challenging Zayn to a FIFA match.
