Rage

The prison cell was cold.

Water dripped from the prison's ceilings. In one of the prison cells, Pascual was walking back and forth as he scrunched his hair. "¡Maldito seas, Federico! (Damn you, Federico!)." His voice echoed in the prison. He wasn't alone in prison; his men were in separate prison cells. Sitting quietly while hearing their boss talking to himself.

They looked uncertain since they, too, were imprisoned.

"¡Soldados! ¡Saquenme de aquí! ¡Me han tendido una trampa! ¡Miente! ¡Federico mintió! (Soldiers! Get me out of here! I have been framed! He lies! Federico lied!)" No one answered, and Pascual felt trapped and used.

As they continued walking back and forth, everyone in the prison heard echoes outside. Theyheard talking but didn't know who it was. The prison's door was opened, and to everyone's surprise, Esteban entered. He wasn't alone; Guillermo and Victoriano followed suit.

Pascual gulped and stopped on his tracks. The three men entered as they closed the door behind them.

Victoriano slowly walked toward Pascual's prison cell. Pascual tried hard not to look nervous, but his body betrayed him by trembling.

"Estoy seguro de que sabes por qué estamos aquí, Pascual (I am certain you know why we are here, Pascual)."

"N-No sé de qué estás hablando (I-I don't know what you are talking about)."

Victoriano quickly glanced at Esteban, who walked forward, motioning a key to the prison cell, opening it, and walking inside. Esteban then ran to Pascual, forcing him onto the wall as he kicked him in the stomach.

The kick made Pascual lose breath momentarily. Before he could say something, Esteban kicked him again. "No estamos aquí para perder el tiempo. Ya sabes por qué estamos aquí. ¿Dónde está Valentina? (We're not here to waste time. You know why we are here. Where is Valentina?)"

"¡N-No sé! (I-I don't know!)."

Victoriano entered the cell; Esteban moved out of the way. His eyes hadn't blinked; they were filled with killing intent. "Mientes. Tú eres quién siempre intentaba llegar a ella. Encontraron la ropa de mi hija con sangre. (You're lying. You're the one who always tried to get to her. My daughter's clothes were found with blood)."

Pascual violently trembled; his lips quivered. "¡N-no tuve nada que ver con V-Valentina! (I had nothing to do with Valentina!)."

Victoriano knew that Pascual was lying. Pascual wasn't going to speak, but he knew who would. Getting out of the prison cell, he went to Pascual's men, who stood. They also said that they knew nothing about Valentina's whereabouts. "¿Te das cuenta de que, como trabajas con Pascual, todos seréis declarados culpables? (You do realize that, since you work with Pascual, you and all of you will be found guilty?)."

The men nervously looked at one another. "¿De qué estás hablando? (What are you talking about?" one of the men asked.

"Los soldados están en el rancho de tu jefe y, si encuentran el dinero, todos serán culpables. Como trabajan para él, los obispos asumirán que todos sabían lo que hizo Pascual. Lo que significa que todos serán igualmente culpables. ¿Sabes qué les pasa a quienes roban en la Misión? Muerte. (The soldiers are at your boss's ranch, and if they find the money, then you all will be guilty. Since you work for him, the Bishops will assume that you all knew what Pascual did. Meaning you all will be just as guilty. Do you know what happens to those who steal from the Mission? Death.)"

The men became terrified. One of them knelt and held onto the prison cell bars. "¡Somos inocentes! ¡Lo juramos! Oí a Pascual llegar al rancho anoche tarde. ¡Lo oí hablar consigo mismo de que por fin tenía a Valentina para él solo! ¡Eso es todo lo que sé! (We are innocent! We swear it! I heard Pascual arriving at the ranch late last night. I heard him speak to himself of finally having Valentina to himself! This is all I know!)."
