Toypurina, Victoriano, and the others waited until they received the signal.

It was slowly becoming tense, and Victoriano was slowly becoming worried. It shouldn't have taken his son and Esteban too long to find the secret passageway. "Toypurina, I believe it would be best if we slowly move forward to the Mission. Even if they give us the signal, we are still too far off; we can turn off the torches."

Toypurina looked at the Mission; she couldn't help but feel something was wrong. "Victoriano, we must wait here. We must keep a safe distance."

Nicolás José walked forward and asked, "¿Por qué están tardando tanto? (Why are they taking so long?)"

"Ten paciencia. ¿Crees que es fácil colarse en la Misión? (Have patience. Do you believe it is easy to sneak inside the Mission?)"

"Tú también lo sientes, Toypurina. Algo anda mal (You can feel it too, Toypurina. Something is wrong)."

Toyprurina didn't want to worry anyone, but the nagging feeling in her heart told her that something wasn't going according to plan. She didn't have experience in war or in leading an army. The men wanted to go ahead, but Toypruina believed that it wasn't the best idea. "Tengo la sensación de que algo no anda bien, pero debemos quedarnos donde estamos (I do feel that something is amiss, but we must stay put)."

"¡Hemos llegado hasta aquí! ¡No podemos quedarnos de brazos cruzados esperando! ¡Estos demonios blancos han convertido nuestras vidas en un infierno! ¡Han matado a muchos de los nuestros! (We have come this far! We cannot just stay aside and wait! These white devils have made our lives hell! They killed many of our people!)"

"¡Eso es suficiente! (That is enough!)" Victoriano exclaimed. He knew that Nicolas and everyone were angry and anxious. He was, too.

"Victoriano, we should move ahead. We must get within close range until we receive the signal."

Victoriano wanted to disagree, but he knew that he would be overruled. There was no other option. "Alright, but we must ready our weapons."

Toypurina nodded and commanded the army to ready their weapons as they walked forward. Every step they took felt heavy; they knew that there was no turning back.

Suddenly, a loud noise echoed in the sky.

Toypurina stopped and commanded everyone to do the same. "Victoriano, that sounded like a gun."

Victoriano's eyes widened. "That is not the signal! They were found! Toypurina, they know about our plan!"

Toypurina's eyes widened, and as she was about to command her army, another shot was fired, and one of the men was hit in the forehead and killed. "Ximoyectlalian! (Prepare yourselves!)" The men were confused and shocked that one of their comrades had been killed. More shots were fired. The men didn't know what to do or where to go. "Ye Ixquich! Xinechtocacan! (Enough! Follow me!)"

Victoriano also yelled at the men to follow Toypurina. Everyone eventually followed their leader, as she led them toward the Mission. She commanded that they would be split into two groups.

"Toypurina, why!?"

"If we stay all together, then it will be a massacre! We have to make them fight on different sides! You will lead one group, and I will lead another!"

The plan had its risks, and the men looked confused and terrified. However, no one knew what the Mission's leaders had planned. If they stayed together, then there would be a massacre. "Alright!"

Toypurina stopped and ordered the army to split into two groups. One would follow her, and the other would follow Victoriano. They all agreed, and the army broke up into two. Victoriano listened to the Soldados inside as they were preparing for their arrival.
