Liz peered at Max from the passengers seat. He was still as a statue staring at the empty blackness ahead only moving to turn the wheel. He was deep in thought she could almost see the gears turning in his head.
Then he spoke "We need a new car," he said "They whoever 'they' are could be tracking us from the car." He paused "But I'm not sure we have enough money to buy a new car and even if we did it would use up all our money, then what would we do..." He was rambling.
Liz reached over and put her hand on his arm. "Max we're going to be ok" she said not really believing it herself.
It's just, he said turning his head to face her "I thought, just for one second I thought, we could have a normal life." He sighed a defeated look in his eyes. "Now I don't have a clue what to do and everyone is looking at me for answers...I just don't know what to do."
Liz didn't know what to say. Max had always been the one with the plan he had always been the leader. "Max don't put so much pressure on yourself you'll figure it out, and even if you don't we'll run and as long as we're together nothing else matters."
. . .
"Thanks for the save back there" Kyle said.
"Hum..." Isabel was deep in thought and hadn't heard what he said "What?"
"Nevermind" Kyle said turning around away and plopping down in the near by recliner.
The interior of the van had become almost homey. The back of the van had two small couches, a table, and two recliners. Not very comfortable when you had to sleep on the floor but livable.
As Isabel surveyed the seen she thought 'We put so much work in to this, Why?' But she knew why, they all wanted this to be home. They wanted to run from their problems. But their problems caught up with them.
