This was the beginning of the end...

My name is [Y/N], I just moved to this heavily populated town of Los Angeles from a small town back in Michigan. I'm already miserable and I haven't even set foot in our new house yet. I wasn't really accepted back home and I grew up with those people, why did anyone think that here would be any different? I had from graduated high school early, which was honestly one of the only redeeming things about me was that I was intelligent enough to test out of the classes I hated. Or rather out of the classes with those who hated me, sure I was peculiar and maybe a little bit unusual but that was no excuse for them to hold a personal grudge against me.

My mother wanted to move here after my fathers most recent two week bender on booze, drugs, and sex with the idea to start again. To me it didn't make much sense because those who wanted to find drugs could and would in any place on earth. What he did when he was home during those times was even worse than when he was gone completely and this was just setting us up for the brunt of it. He didn't have friends to crash with when he knew that he had once again fucked up, so now he would just come home at all hours of the night with his pent up rage. This was nothing new to me, it had been happening my entire life but she would always take him back and try to make things work again claiming that was what you did when you were in love. Things would calm down and stop for a while but low and behold it always went back to the same old shit storm before you could hardly blink. The time gaps of peace were fleeting each and every time becoming short and shorter.

My lack of siblings both relieved and depressed me at the same time, while they would not have to deal with what I do, I also don't have a buffer or a confidant to tell my secrets to. Sometimes I doodle or write to get my feelings out, but my true escape is music. It takes my mind off of the world around me letting me pretend that it simply isn't reality anymore. I rarely had friends and if I did get past the awkward getting to know someone phase they would see my father's true colors and abandon me anyway. The drama that seemed to hang above me was like a dark cloud of doom waiting for me to meet my fate. Yeah I'm full of poetic bullshit with idealistic views of what I want my world to be...but in the end aren't we all? We hold ourselves and our lives to certain expectations and if they don't meet those expectations then life isn't enjoyable anymore, it becomes dull and colorless.Happiness just draining from our very souls, while sadness and depression seep their way in.

I was yanked out of my thoughts as we pulled up to the house that would now be our home I couldn't really believe my eyes as it was huge and more than likely way out of our price range. Did they have the right address? This couldn't be the house they were talking about, sure they said it was better than what we had before which was a complete understatement. Clicking the lock on my seat belt I felt it roll across me back into the mechanism my eyes still taut on the massive sight before me. Releasing the door handle I stepped out onto the concrete sidewalk area standing before it in awe and wonderment. Maybe this wasn't going to be so bad, places like this were bound to be haunted and the very thought sent adrenaline coursing through my veins. I was the kind of person to hang out in a cemetery just to get away from the living for a while, and I had seen my share of spirits lingering on earth. All of them benevolent though, nothing filled with malice or anger to make me feel like I was ever in danger.

"What do you think of it so far baby?"My mother asked coming to a stop right next tome as we stood outside the gate for a moment taking it all in before moving forward with our new lives.

"It's huge..."I said still in disbelief, before looking at her seeing a rare kind of peace on her face. It made me give in a little bit just to see her feeling less melancholy than before the move. "I'm going to go pick out my room."I explained grabbing my backpack that lay on the ground next to me, my father having set it there. I didn't really want to be around him still it just gave me shivers down my spine to even be in the same room. I needed to find my space, my oasis away from all the bullshit in life, my paradise where I could hide from the harshness that was the reality of my life. "God I have a flair for the dramatic I guess."I said quietly to myself. Trekking upstairs I saw a long hallway of different doors making me wonder where exactly they led, but exploring could and would be done later.Opening the first door you see at the top of the stairs it was a nice open bedroom, with a bathroom attached to it. Since it was too small to be the master you decided it was going to be yours. There was abed already in there that didn't have blanket's or sheets on it but you wanted to keep it, the iron work made it vintage and unique.Setting your bag down on it, sitting down next to it you hear a voice that didn't come from either of your parents.
