For The Sake Of Love

Tate'sPOV:

Seeing an old gas can heading right towards [Y/N] I immediately went into action pushing her out of the way letting it hit me square in the chest. "Violet go away."I said firmly. "Go away."I growled again to make sure she left us alone. I didn't know why she was so upset she hadn't talked to me in years nor acknowledged my existence so why all of the sudden did she care?"Come on [Y/N] let's get out of here it's obvious someone down here wants us to leave."I said trying to protect her whether she knew it or not. Finally the other spirit's in the house had stopped trying to make people leave, just collaboratively deciding to leave them alone.They walked around without being seen as a choice and carried on with their own day to day activities.

"Who is Violet?"She asked me somewhat worriedly bringing me back to when she told me she had only encountered benevolent spirits and none with any sort of malice. Usually Violet was happy now and not vengeful but more likely than not she didn't want me to talk to anyone, she wanted me to suffer in the silence as most everyone ignored me besides Ben. Sure I had done some shitty things in my life and afterlife but to cut me out completely was extremely cruel. So now I was moving on and that seemed to bother her, maybe she was just trying to warn [Y/N] to stay away from me but I wasn't sure.

"She is a spirit that committed suicide here in the house a while ago, actually her whole family died in this place. Marcy wasn't required to tell you that because it was more than three years ago now. The mother died in childbirth, the father committed suicide after both his wife and daughter were gone. I don't really blame him, see spirits who die in this house tend to stay in this house. One of the reasons my family moved out, my little brother died and he roams here it was just too painful for my mom and I to stay."I explained lying about certain things as I led the way up the stairs.There was no reason for her to know that I was dead and couldn't leave the house either, at least at this point. There was also no way I was going to tell her that my mother was next door raising my son that Vivien had given birth to.

"So she doesn't want me in the house?"She asked me with a frown, that broke my heart. "Are we preventing them from roaming freely?"

"No they can make themselves known to you, but they choose not to so that you all can co-exist in the house. Violet is my ex-girlfriend so she might be jealous that you are hanging out with me."I chuckled awkwardly rubbing the back of my neck. "It just wasn't meant to be between us, not because she is dead or anything, we just aren't compatible." I explained with a tiny smirk brazened across my face.

"Oh well we are just hanging out right? No need to get jealous about that you are allowed to have friends after all."[Y/N] said with a lighthearted tone.

"Exactly!"I said laughing trying to help her shake off what had just happened to get her in a better mood. "Do you want to hang out somewhere else or would you like more of the tour?"I asked softly having an intense need to get to know her, she was someone who was actually talking to me. I was so lonely all the time and this was just what I needed, contact with another person who understood. Last night I had to fight back the urge to kill her father right then and there for hurting her. You aren't supposed to hurt the people you love, but that act was not out of love. It was clear he was a terrible person inside and out, the demons of the world had sunk into him. There was a chance he could change like I did, but you have to want to change for change to work.

"We can go hang in my room, well our room I guess since it was yours before it was mine."She laughed making my body ache for her, it was the most glorious sound I had heard in a long time. Like little bells ringing at Christmas time, it was heartwarming and full of life.
