~TIME SKIP: ONE WEEK LATER~

Your POV:

It had been a week since the break-in and you still hadn't seen Tate which worried you. Hayden promised you that he was okay, he just didn't want you to see him in that state. Things were going back to normal but you missed him more than ever. The more time that passed, the lonelier you became. Your mother wasn't good company she was dealing with her own demons, although you had to admit she did try. Every night she had been making you dinner instead of Moira doing it, it was her way of having control over a situation you guessed. Earlier she had left to go shopping so it really was just you in the house. You had never noticed how empty it really was until now, so much space for two people to inhabit.

"Honey I'm back from the store! Also I brought you a big surprise! I ran into someone at the store and you won't believe who it was! Come on in Lynda, Jason."She said causing you to freeze in place. It couldn't be... "You remember Jason right? Your childhood best friend?"She asked a big smile on her face. "And his mom Lynda."

Of course you remembered him, he was the only one who even came near you when you were little. Both of you had shared your deepest secrets, your mischief, and your triumphs. He and his mom moved away after his Dad passed away, she had wanted to be closer to her family. The both of you were only 11 when you were separated from each other but boy did he grow up. Now he was tan, tall, muscular, definitely a change from the short, high voiced, pale boy you had known then. Not that you were exactly the same either, sure you were taller, your hair was longer, but you were still paler than a vampire who never saw the light. "How could I possibly forget."You said with a soft smile still in shock but you were happy to see him.

"It's been a while [Y/N], you look great though."He said his voice like soft silk, deep and smooth causing your heart to race. The crush you had on him when you were kids was still reminiscent even now that he was standing before you.

"You too!"You said walking over hugging him gasping a little as he picked you up into a giant bear hug showing just how strong he had gotten. Blushing softly, as he put you back down you wished you could brush it off but you just couldn't hide it.

"Why don't you show Jason around the house, catch up a little bit and Lynda and I will get some coffee and girl gab about you two."Your mom said winking to you making you roll you eyes a bit. "Behave you two, we don't need anymore trouble."She laughed bringing you back to all the shenanigans you would get into as children.

"Where is your local boy scout camp?"You asked him unable to help yourself as you both laughed grabbing your stomach for support. "I haven't done a good B&E in years."You joked looking to your mom with a smirk on your face.

"We can google it on the way."He said pulling out his phone raising his eyebrows to his mom and yours. "What kind of kids would we be if we didn't give you a heart attack every once in a while. The duo is back together."Jason said grinning as they left the room laughing at the two of you. "I've really missed you [Y/N]I am sorry that I stopped writing you, high school got the best of me. Although I heard from your mom that you graduated early, I always knew that you would do great things. I hear we are going to be goingto the same college, I would love to show you around campus. I just finished my first year there myself."He offered as you started giving him the ten cent tour.

"Thank god! I was so worried about having to figure it out all on my own. I was dreading my first day, but now at least I'll know someone there."You said looking to him with a look of deep relief. As you got to the last stop on the tour which was your bedroom you couldn't help but feel like you were being watched by someone. It was a little bit unnerving but you brushed it off as you just being paranoid right after the break-in.

"It's completely different than high school, in mostly better ways. Those cliques that we used to hate are still there but in more harmless ways. There are the frat brothers like myself, the sorority girls for better or for worse, the nerds, the geeks, the skaters, and more. They leave each other alone really, not much bullying outside of heat week for Greek life."Jason explained sitting on the end of your bed seeing your sketchbook sitting there. Picking it up he began going through it page by page admiring each drawing.

"I can't imagine you as a frat bro."You laughed softly looking to him, sure now he could look the part but he was far from popular when you knew each other. Oh how things had changed since then, well for him but not for you. Inside you still felt the same as you did then, sure you were more mature and educated but your ideals were the same.

"I'm in a more low key frat, just occasional drinking and parties. No hazing or chasing the girls unless you want to but it's not required as it is with some. We are an academic fraternity so we tutor the others and things like that. I'm not part of the snapback wearing, tank top donning, misogynist stereotype. Not that there aren't plenty of them on campus, so make sure you take care of yourself. Don't be fooled by their handsome faces and their fancy cars bought with their daddy's money."He explained obviously annoyed by them.

"I take it you've encountered these types on apersonal level?"You ask able to tell there was a story behind his annoyance.

"One stole my girlfriend last year, ended up getting her pregnant then dumping her. She came back to me and I tried to forgive her but the moment he changed his mind she went running to him. She ended up getting an abortion then dropping out of school. It's a shame, really she was so smart and funny which is why I am warning you to be careful. You remind me of her in a lot of ways, and I don't want you to get hurt. I'll be there to help you though, and you are smarter than she is on that kind of level at least as far as I can remember."He laughed running his hand over the back of his neck.

"Oh you don't have to worry about me, I'm not much of the dating type at least right now. I am aiming to just be focused on school so that I can do what I dream of doing. I want to be a writer or an artist, but I need to hone my skills."You explained softly chuckling noticing how sexy his movement was. It was almost like he was a male model now, the kind you see in expensive teenage clothing stores at the mall. Or on the front of a Calvin Kline advertisement, watching him stretch you could see the V leading down into his shorts. It was distracting to say the least and you were trying so hard not to stare but it was damn near impossible not to.

"You okay [Y/N]?"He asked putting his arms down out of his stretch.

"Oh yeah sorry I was just thinking about how much Ihad missed talking to you."You lied expertly knowing that he would believe you. Honestly was you couldn't help but think about his skin touching yours, rubbing up against you. It was getting you a little hot and bothered at the very notion of it, causing you to bite your lower lip.

"Me too, but we don't have to worry about that again."Jason said placing his hand on top of yours looking into your eyes. That was when the window slammed open, the window blowing the pages of your sketchbook to the sketch you had done of Tate. "Who is that?"He asked curiously with just a hint of jealousy. It made you stop, because just what was Tate to you? How were you supposed to answer that question when you hadn't even seen him in a week. Silently grabbed the book, Tate's eyes staring back at you.

"He is my friend."You said finally shutting the book closed laying it next to you.
