Tate's POV:

What was I going to do now? Violet just proclaimed that she still loved me, Hayden had just tried to scare [Y/N] away so that we could be together, and [Y/N] was upstairs bleeding with that guy. My mind was going in a million different directions with no indication which way was the right way. I had to say something to her but I didn't know how I really felt. Did I love her still? I didn't know, I didn't know anything right then. I hated this feeling, it just kept a looming cloud over me. I wanted to look forward to the future but now it was all uncertain.

"Tate!"I hear [Y/N] call out to me from the top of the stairs, I could tell that she had been crying and that she was scared. I shook my head to Violet before going to her, I wasn't going to lie and tell her that I loved her too when I was not sure that was the truth.

"I'm coming [Y/N]!"I said slowly making my way up there seeing her absolutely broken and I felt a pain in my chest. I was just making her life a living hell instead of bringing her happiness like I wanted to. "Are you okay?!"I asked concerned like I had no idea what had happened. I grabbed her arm and slowly pulled back the toilet paper revealing the word on her arm once again angering me. I felt like maybe I didn't go hard enough on Hayden, but I was desperately trying to keep myself from the darkness that had once consumed me. "Who did this?"I asked already knowing the answer.

"H-Hayden."She replied sobbing softly her lower lip quivering from the fear. "She came in when I was with my childhood friend Jason, he was visiting and she went off on me. I couldn't even understand what she was saying, she just started calling me a whore and attacking me. Yanking me by the hair into the bathroom hitting my head on the tub, when I woke up my arm was covered up. I pulled it back and it said this, I'm so confused. I'm sorry that I haven't come to see you, every time I tried she told me that you didn't want me to see you like that. I was so worried about you, and this time I wasn't going to take her word for it obviously. Are you okay?"She asked touching my shoulder with her fingertips ever so slightly.

"I'm fine, healing up just fine. She told me that you didn't even attempt to come see me."I said seething at the fact that she had lied to me, and I in my infinite wisdom believed her. "I shouldn't have believed her, I was in pain for a couple days and I didn't want to move. I should have come and seen you anyway, I didn't want to worry you."I explained bringing her into my arms hugging her tightly. "Next time she comes near you tell her firmly to go away, she can't hurt you that way."I said kissing the top of her head. I felt alive when I was with her, it was different to the way Violet made me feel. Before I felt that there was new light in my life, but now I felt that the light [Y/N] brought into my life lit up the future. "I'm not going to let anyone hurt you ever again, okay? I can't let that happen."

"Will you stay with me tonight? I know that you haven't been home in days and your family is probably worried but I'm scared."She said not letting go of me.

"I'll always be here if that is what you want."I said holding her close to my chest, I knew I had my answer right now. I was going to protect her at all costs, and I hoped that Vi would understand why I couldn't choose her. I needed to talk to Ben because I had no idea how to break it to her in a way that wouldn't crush her. There might be some lingering feelings for her but the new feelings that had emerged from me made my existence worth while again. "Have you eaten anything today?"I asked worriedly knowing that with the amount she had bled could make her lightheaded if she hadn't eaten.
