Chapter Two Its Over Now

The next morning Peridot helicoptered over to Beach City, knowing her fate was soon to come.

"I hope it doesn't hurt..." She said sadly, thinking of all her mistakes. "It can't hurt as bad as all of those" she landed right on the beach in front of the temple.

"Hey! You clods!!! I'm right here! Come and get me!" She shouted, tears beginning to drip down her cheeks again. She wiped them away but couldn't stop their flow. "I know you hate me! Come and get me!"

Steven was the first to see her. He yelled for the other gems as her ran down the beach to her. He reached her with his shield on his arm just as the other gems emerged from their home.

"Garnet! It's Peridot! She's going to hurt Steven!" Pearl shouted, jumping down to the beach, her spear already in her hand.

"Peridot?...why are you crying?" Steven asked, his angry demeanor fading and his shield disappearing.

"I don't want to be here anymore..." She said as Pearl threw her spear right at her face. She closed her eyes, waiting for the smashing sound, the burst of pain. The end...but it never came.

She opened her eyes to see Steven's pink bubble around them, Pearl and Garnet angrily beating against it inaudibly. "Wha...why?" She asked, looking down at the Steven.

"Because you look sad. And you're a gem! Gems shouldn't fight other gems. You didn't want to fight when you came here...did you?" He asked her. She shook her head no in response and just sat down, tears still streaming down her face. She couldn't even get killed correctly. Is there anything she could do right?

"What's wrong Peridot?" Steven asked, touching her arm.

"I'm alone...I miss Lapis...I mean my home." She said without thinking. Shit! She'd given away her biggest secret to some...Steven. This day was getting worse and worse.

"You miss Lapis? Why? I thought she was just your prisoner?"

"No...Jasper was the one who treated her like a prisoner. I treated we like an informant...and she's cute...I feel bad for her. She was alone for so long." Peridot says sadly, remembering her little blue heartthrob.

"I have an idea." Steven says. "One that should convince my family...the Crystal Gems not to hurt you, and save Lapis."
