Peridot carefully clutched Lapis' gem as she landed with a stumble on the beach. She held it out in both hands and smiled as she looked at it.
"Even if this is the only time you will ever let me lay a finger on you...I'll make sure to be gentle. I promise." She whispered. She knew that Lapis couldn't really hear her, but she hoped that she could sense her gentle, caring presence. When a gem was forced into her stone, they lost all sensory abilities, minus a kind of intuition that told them who was around them and how they acted. It was a defense mechanism so they knew how much time they had to reform.
After a time, the others arrived, Pearl and Amethyst walking out of the sea, and Garnet swimming, acting as a raft for Steven.
"Hi Peridot!!!!" The small, tubby boy said happily. "Did you make it home safe?"
"I arrived intact." She replied simply. Steven offered Peridot shelter in the temple house, but being so close to all the Crystal Gems and all the weird smells didn't really appeal to her. Plus she wanted to keep Lapis away from Pearl. She didn't think Pearl was a huge threat to Lapis Lazuli, but she just wanted the blue gem to reform without anxiety. Hopefully she would make herself even prettier than before.
Instead of living in the temple, Peridot got permission from Steven to live in the lighthouse. "Technically it belongs to us anyway, and ever since we took a big corrupted gem out of the building, Ronaldo had left." He had told her
Peridot didn't know what a...Ronaldo was, and quite frankly she didn't want to know. A Steven was quite enough for her.
She took her three remaining robonoids and programmed them to spray paint rather than the crystalline material used to fix the warps. The went about painting the entire lighthouse interior. She used lots of blue and teal and various other ocean shades. In the center of the room on the ground floor, she dug a small pool and filled it with salt water. She built a heater under it to keep the water warm.
"A nice little bath tub for Lapis. And it will give the place that weird ocean smell that I'm sure she will enjoy." Peridot said gleefully. She placed Lapis' gemstone in the pool, which was about three feet deep, and resumed having her robonoids paint. She hacked into earths databanks and found images of see life that she figured Lapis would like and painted them against the blue ocean walls. She soon had a nice, homey ocean reef surrounding the pool.
She was just starting to have the robonoids 3D print furniture when she heard a small splashing behind her.
"...Peridot?...did you do all of this for me?"
Peridot jumped and nervously turned around. Behind her stood none other than the gorgeous, if not slightly confused, Lapis Lazuli.
