Chapter Three Future Peri

Peridot looked at the Steven strangely. "Save Lapis? Why does she need to be saved? I thought the ship smashed her, or that she flew home..."

"No...when your ship crashed, Jasper and Lapis survived. Jasper made Lapis fuse with her, but Lapis turned it around on her by chaining their fusion, Malachite, to the bottom of the ocean." Steven said.

Peridot covered her mouth in disgust and horror. "Sh-she MADE Lapis fuse with her? But...but that's wrong...that's wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong."

"But didn't you make gems fuse?" Steven asked.

"That was different. Those were gem shards. Things with no sentience. Yellow Diamond made me do that to try to see if I could made a sentient being with the broken gems. It didn't really work...I'm horrible." Peridot said sadly.

Steven squeezed her arm. "It's okay Peridot...we'll go get Lapis. She'll be okay. You can help us find her with your robots!" He said, trying to brighten the mood.

"I don't have any more robonoids. You Crystal Clod...Gems...smashed them all." Peridot said, irritated.

"Not all of them! We have three of the little ones. Pearl was trying to see if she could turn them off, which she couldn't."

Peridot cringed. "You've been...touching my robonoids." The work she had put into making her little robots just for them to be smashed hurt her heart.

"Yeah...but they are okay. Pearl kept them nice and clean for you. She kinda does that sometimes. A lot."

Peridot just looked at Steven oddly. By this time the Crystal Gems had given up attacking the bubble, just glowering at Peridot through the walls. Amethyst made a slashing motion across her throat and Peridot gulped.

"Are you sure you can stop them from smashing me?" She asked.

"Of course! I have my cooooool waaaaaays." He said. He hopped up and hugged Peridot, who instinctively hugged him back.

"What are you doooooing!" Peridot asked, almost dropping the boy.

"Trying to get the Gems to think you are okay to be around."

He was right. They had put their weapons away at the sight of the hug, although their angry looks didn't disappear, minus Garnet. The gem fusion looked calm, and collected.

Steven allowed his bubble to pop and Peridot yelpped, hiding behind him to avoid Pearl, who had pulled her spear out again.

"Peridot! Let Steven go..." Pearl began, but she was cut off by Garnet.

"Peridot doesn't want to hurt us. She wants to help Steven and us. If we don't hurt her, we won't have to worry about her any more." Garnet said calmly. She reached out and shook Peridot's hand, shocking everyone, especially Peridot.

"No...I-i won't. Th-ank you." She said, kinda scared. She didn't know about Garnet's future vision at all, but Steven knew exactly what was going on. He smiled and hugged Peridot's footed leg, nearly toppling her.

"Welcome to the Crystal Gems Peridot!" He said gleefully.
