Chapter Thirteen Date Night Continued

Peridot grinned and kissed Lapis again, pulling her against her. "I like that sound you make."

"Mmmmmmmmmm" Lapis said, teasing. She pulled away and stood up, twirling. "Come on Peri. Let's gooooooo!"

"But Lapis I just want to cuddle!" Peridot said, standing up.

"Oh you big baby. It will be fun to see what the humans do to waste their time. And we need to get your mind off of Pearl and the others. Let's just have a good time!" Lapis said, taking Peridot's fingers and holding her hands.

Peridot bit her lip. "Why does she have to be so cute???" She thought. "Fiiiiiine I'll go with you and the Steven."

"Yay!" Lapis giggled. She kissed Peridot on the gem and skipped outside. "And don't worry. We can cuddle tonight."

"Oh good!" Peridot said, following her out. They hurried to get Steven and Connie, who were super excited to take the two gems out on the town.

"I can show you guys Fun Land and we can get pizza!" Steven said happily.

"And maybe we can watch Dog Copter if it's showing!" Connie said excitedly.'

"Haha! Whatever you two think is going to be fun." Lapis said. "Just make sure we eat eventually. I want to see if Peri likes food." Lapis said, making Peridot blush. Just about everything Lapis did made Peridot blush.

The four of them headed into town, Lapis and Peridot each flying a child over. Lapis held Steven and Connie clung to Peridot's leg as she helicoptered next to Lapis.

They landed in front of the entrance to Fun Land. Steven showed Connie and the gems his favorite games. Neither Peridot nor Lapis could get the hang of any of the games, but his laughter as well as Connie's was enough for them. Peridot especially loved to see Lapis smile.

"Peri you died again!" Lapis said, giggling.

"It's not my fault the game doesn't make any sense. How does jumping on turtles help me rescue the princess?" Peridot said, amused and happy Lapis was having a good time.

Next Steven took them for pizza. "Oooohhhhhh are you ready for this Peridot?" Steven asked as the food was set out in front of them.

"I'm not sure...humans and eating seems very...rudimentary." Peridot said nervously. The green gem had absolutely no idea what was in store for her. Lapis served everyone a slice on their own plate and the began to eat.

Peridot tentatively took a bite, chewing the food like Lapis had said to. "It's actually not too bad. It tastes good, but feels a littler odd. Hmm" She swallowed and took a drink of water.

"Sooooooo do you like it Peri?" Lapis asked teasingly. She held Peridot's hand under the table.

"It's pretty good. I'll admit it." She said, giving Lapis' hand a squeeze. The little blue gem made Peridot feel like no one else mattered and she loved it. Homeworld didn't allow for those feelings. But here, with Lapis...everything was okay.

"Yay! Peridot likes pizza!!!" Steven said, giving Connie a fist bump. "Mission accomplished, partner."

Connie giggled and blushed while Steven was...well, being Steven. The two gems laughed and finished eating. Peridot didn't eat a whole lot. It was too new to her, but she did eat some.

After Steven had payed, they left to go see the movie Connie was wanting to see. Lapis sat next to Peridot and leaned against her the entire time, just wanting to be close to her. The two of them didn't pay the movie a lot of attention.

When it was over, Lapis and Peridot walked the ecstatic Connie and Steven back to the temple. "Did you understand that movie?" Lapis asked.

"Not really. I mean I am a helicopter. It's not that special to me." Peridot whispered.

"Hehe that's right I had almost forgotten you could do that." Lapis giggled. They dropped the two kids off with the Crystal Gems and flew up the hill to their lighthouse home. Peridot held the door open for Lapis as the sun started to sink below the horizon

"Wanna try to sleep again honey?" Lapis asked, pulling Peridot upstairs anyway.

"Sure...but only because you will be with me in case I have a bad dream..." Peridot said.

"Don't worry. I'll always be with you." Lapis said. She opened the bedroom door and they both climbed into bed, pressing close, happy in eachothers embrace.

"Mmmm goodnight Peri. I love you." Lapis said, giving Peridot a nice kiss.

"I love you too Lapis." Peridot said, kissing back and slowly passing out. Of course, until her gem began projecting
